Are you pully in over drive if so mybe why RPM get to low and can't get the air flow need drop to D so run 2500 to 2800 get air flow to keep it cool

it has the nv4500 5 speed

You might try an electric fan to increase your air flow. If you set it up with a t stat with a solinoid it will kick on at what ever temp you set and shut off with the engin or you can set it up with a manual controle to let the fan run a bit after you shut down the engin.

what temp T-Stat are you running i just went thur the same thing your going thur i ran 210 most of the way from Fl to NC and then 220 to 240 int mnts but i was pulling 16,500 lbs

have a 195 degree tstat and i am still runnin on the original water pump.... will a water pump from a 94 work i believe those r 130 gpm versus my 87 gpm and i believe that the water pump for the 94 is also counter clockwise rotation like mine in the 93.... could someone. anyone give me some input to that if it is not correct

Crazy 05-08-2011 10:23 PM

try running 180 T -stats in the truck 195 to just to much for towing

You have to use ONLY a GM thermostat in a single them setup. The water pumps suck on the earlier models. If you have a serp belt(which I think you should) you can change over to a waterpump from a 2000 model year. It has much better flow and partially solves the uneven flow problems in the rear of the heads. The 2000 WP will have a threaded hub not 4 bolt style so you can either build your own fan setup or buy a Heath Dmax one. Hayden makes a severe duty clutch for the threaded hub abd you can either use the factory 9 blade steel fan from a 2000 or a dmax fan but it may require trimming the shroud. I don't remember the part # for the Dmax fan but you can buy the whole fan and clutch setup from Heath.

is the 2000 model yr water pump a counter clockwise rotation pump as i believe the 93 is.. and does anyone know where i can get new bosch injectors with a high pop pressure at?
