I am looking at a 95' K1500 6.5L.Just wondering If I should buy it and keep the Regal or trade the Regal off for it or a 04 Chevy Impala?Your opinion would be apreciated tell me what you like and what you don't like about yours. This is the truck. http://www.siouxlandcarsforsale.com/show.aspx?vid=1172955[/url] Thanks Bye.

Be a good beat around truck. Looks like it's in real good shape.

i would get the truck but the impala is going to be more reliable unless you replace some stuff on the truck. pmd, oil cooler lines, vacuum boost system and anything else that needs replacing. i can tell you that truck is overpriced.
it should be somewhere between 4500 to 5000. i payed 5800 for my truck which did have 140,000 miles but my truck has a upgraded cooling system that was new for 1997 and the newer interior, plus it was super clean with almost no dents and no rust on the body. tons on the frame though. this truck wont have close to the power a duramax has or your dads 12 valve but it makes up for it in the sounds it makes. indirect injection idle sounds bad ass compared to a duramax imho. plus everyone looks at you when you idle up to a stop sighn. let us know if you want anymore info BTW those running boards wont last long on the farm:w2: |

yeah i forgot what your dad had. i remember something about a 12 valve and your dad on dieselpower a long time ago. not many people are in the market for 120K half tons from the mid 90's and especially diesel ones. i know my truck was sitting on the lot for at least 3 months because it was on the internet since mid november and i bought it january 31. they dropped the price 2k in mid january and i went and made my deal. i asked the guy and he said there had been miminial interest in it.
all im saying is offer the guy 3k cash or something like that and start from there. take a test drive and look for problems. point out the problems of the truck and you might get outta there with a sweet deal on this truck |

Sounds like a pretty good plan to me.I don't have quite that much cash on hand to do that though;however I would consider it if I could get them down to $3,000.I would only offer 3,500 at max. ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- Otherwise there is Duramax closer to me but it has a salvaged title. Nielsen Repairables :: Specializing in Buying and Selling of Wrecked Vehicles and Parts Only problem is that it was a rollover truck and the pass. side is beat up pretty bad and I don't have any idea what it looks like now.It is in the running though and might be a better option than the 6.5L K1500. |
the 6.5 truck is gonna cost 2k to get to good running order if isnt running good already. injectors, glowplugs, relocate pmd, oil cooler lines, upgraded cooling system. plus anything else major wrong with it. duramax i have no idea with the damage
|
Yeah its a shame that the only trucks I can afford are either gas powered or older diesels or rollover vehicles.
:booo: |
Ive heard about a lot of problems with the 6.5's

I've always been a fan of the GM 1/2 ton diesels. The may not make alot of power but they sound cool and last forever if they're maintained. Lose the running boards and you would have yourself a really decent truck.

imo ben, with all ive heard from u over the past year and a half, id stay away from the 6.5 and just wait on a dmax. ive told ya that before. ive not ever priced full cabs, but if ya got the roll over it would probably be cheapest to just get a cab. id say find ya a good running dodge for 4-6 k and get on with it, but i know what ya think of the dodges.
good luck ben :U: |

At the moment it is a tie between the rollover Duramax and the 6.5L K1500.Dodges are alright but I won't have anything to do with Dodge Autos. It must be a manual if I buy Dodge.Leaning more towards the Duramax at the moment. Its cheaper but safety is the big drawback on the Duramax for me or else I would go down there tomorrow.:U:
|
Yeah but only 2 exist at the moment.Everybody including my best friend thinks the 04 Duramax rollover is the better choice.
|
at the end of the day its your choice. if something bad happens the 6.5 is going to be cheaper to fix. plus once you know a few tips they are pretty simple engines and can easily be fixed by yourself without all the fancy computers.
duramax got a lot more power but say it breaks you never know if its the computer or a part thats broken. until you figure out how much money it is to fix the cab its really hard to pick. even though i own a 6.5 and love it i have trouble deciding which one i would get if i was you |
Another thing Is the college teaches us how to fix Cummins and Detroit Diesels not Duramax. At least not yet.Still the Duramax appears to be the more trustworthy vehicle.Like I said Safety is the only issue with it and frame damage.
|
If you understand diesels you can work on them all, mind you some need a computer to tell you what to fix but they all work on the same principle of suck, squeeze, bang, blow

with the duramax you need a very good quality scan tool to work on diagnosing problems on it effectively. on the 6.5 he is looking at all you need is a paper clip
|
Yeah I am still torn between the 2.Cheaper to get the K1500 6.5L which would do most everything I need it to.Otherwise the Duramax which has cab and possibly frame issues.Tough call indeed.
|
can you get the estimate on the cost of the duramax damage
|
cut the top of the d-max and turn it into a convertable :U:

just means that u got to have a real good heater :tttt:

Hey what is the Sport package on a Dodge? I found an 02 6speed Cummins with 109,000 miles on it within the same price range as the Duramax rollover.
|
a few small things r different. i know the bumpers and grill are usualy body color. the 02 sounds like a better deal then the roll over imo.the roll over dmax would take a few more thousand to get it fixed most likely. good luck :U:
