Post a pic.

I will get a pic up tomorrow in the morning. I ran the codes I was getting and I'm getting

74 - Transmission Input Speed (TIS) Sensor Circuit
78 -Turbo Wastegate Solenoid Fault
81 - Transmission 2-3 Shift Solenoid Circuit
82 - Transmission 1-2 Shift Solenoid Circuit
83 - Torque Converter Clutch

Can I see my issue and I am checking the ground but think this is being cause by a dirty trans filter the guy that had it before me never changed it. If cold it will not shift out of first. Once warm it will shift but doesn't like to and the torque convertor locks once in a great while, but then pops right back out. I found out what was happening. it was getting the rpms too high and tripping a sensor cause the fuel to be shut off. I can drive it all day at 30 to 45mph with no issue. If I try to go any fast the rpms go over 3000 and the truck will either sputter for a min or die before you can back off the throttle.

I found the waste gate solenoid was getting a fault because the vacuum line was melted in half. I have fixed that.

I am going to change the transmission filter as soon as I can get outside on a warmer day.

Thanks for your help and I will update.

Also I am checking the Ground connections and cleaning them to make sure that's not the issue. If this does not fix this should I replace the comp to the transmission?

Thanks again

What is the picture of?
It looks like a homemade heatsink for a PMD,but it is still mounted under the hood where the PMD is exposed to heatsoak after shutdown and while it looks loke a large heatsink-it doesn't have much surface area to dissipate PMD heat from.

It is the PMD. The mechanic that installed it thought that was a good place for it but we have since found out this is not true. It has only been on the truck for 2 months now. Is it possible it was damaged. We got this from heath.

Thanks

Ok then it should have been mounted to the holes under the bumper for 2wd or to the skidplate for 4wd.

You have not added any engine symptoms to give a reason why you might be suspecting the PMD?

Jim and kids 02-04-2013 11:08 PM

The engine stammers and studders when heavy into the throttle, but I do not think it is the PMD. We have realized the mechanic put the wrong sending unit into our 34 Gallon fuel tank also looking to see what the fuel line size should be. They replaced it and not sure it was done right. I also have a seperate issue where I am getting serveral transmission codes. The truck no longer dies just doesn't like heavy throttle.

Thanks

sounds like a pluged sock in tank or air leak. or its only running off ip a bad ops will not run lift pump.

racer55 02-05-2013 07:54 AM

*2,aftermarket sending units are being sent out with too fine a mesh on the sock for diesel use and many folks put the original sock on the sending unit or eliminate it and add an inline lawnmower fuel filter between the tank and the LP-much easier to service than a plugged sock.

Also you need to verify LP operation while the engine is running-it is powered by the OPS-AC Delco only for replacement OPS and do a google search for "OPS relay mod" and add that for long term reliability.

The lift pump is good we tested it I am going to drop the tank and get rid of the sock and put and inline filter. I will let you know.
