they were stant 195 thermostats installed, i had a buddy giving me a hand and he said he picked up the stants at advanced auto and put them in there along with the rad cap im not having an overheating problem im just losing coolant after driving on the highway for 20+ miles

Get your cap pressure tested,and consider changing the stats again-stants are a known problem in a 6.5.

i think im going to a chevy dealer and get me an actual gm rad cap and stats rather than dimestore parts.. thanks for the help all and have a great Christmas :hellox:

Start the truck cold. Grab the upper rad hose. If it gets hard right away you got problems. Rad cap ain't gonna fix that and your van should have had Dexcool. Someone probably mixed green and it deteriorated the HG. Or worse.

Also not sure how easy you can see in a van overflow but if it looks like this...Not good...

my upper rad hose is the metal flex line as i added a second alternator on the right and the factory hose was to short.but when i was replacing the thermostates this weekend with gm oem replacements i found the flex line where it connects to the thermostat houseing was leaking and going into the valley pan because the shop that did the fuel injector pump didnt tighten it all the way and i had it running with the dog house cover off and was checking for leaks and found it leaking there. now all i have to do i replace the crank sensor and get it back on the road and see what it does from there.

What's the overflow look like ? Not sure on a van. is your overflow got just a non pressure cap or is the overflow pressurized as part of the cooling ?

pressurized part of the system..i also got a cap from the dealer when i got the oem thermostates

if yuo can look in there with it running with the cap off see if you see bubbles. I would not want to have to do HG's on a van...oyyy....:nope:

no bubbles in the tank and im positive i found the leak on the line going to the thermostate housing but ill have to replace the crank sensor so i can get it started and drive it around to see how it runs..and people are saying that having an electric fan on there is a bad idea not sure how as it runs cool even in the summer heat

Do you tow with the van ?
No electric fan will ever pull more air than the engine driven fan. The only issues were that there is so much crap stacked in front of the rad that the bi metal strip on hte fan clutch doesnt always work properly even with recalibrated ones. I have seen guys with 6.5 trucks that had no a/c and no condesor tow real heavy even with the earlier cooling systems and never have an issue and I have had every mod and ran hot.
2500 cfm is a fart in the wind compared to what the engine driven will pull.
