6.2 fuel problems

I recently blew the crank out on my 94 6.5l so i just pulled it ut and put a 1991 6.2l in. i have fuel to the filter bleed screw with no air, fuel is also at the T on the top front of engine. but cant get it to my IP. thanks for the advice

Check the last ditch screen on the fuel heater mast inside the fuel manager.
stanadyne part #29244.

Also check the IP fuel inlet-it has screens that can become plugged.

Are you sure that you connected the lines properly when you made the swap?
The water drain line goes to the filter manager side line while the IP line comes out the front.

If you replaced the IP feed line you may need to use a longer line with a loop in it to prevent any kinks, the stock line is molded for that reason.

The 6.2 has the square filter. And its a new filter too.

You said you transplanted a 6.2 short block in place of a 94 6.5 so I expect it has 6.5 accessories.
If that is not the case then the last ditch screen should not be a factor.

Do you have fuel at the IP inlet and not from the injector lines?
Also do you have the 6.2 mechanical IP or the electronic 6.5 IP?

what i did was put a complete 6.2l in my 94. i wired my lift pump to an accessory under the dash so its on when the key is on.

Ok getting the picture now.
Make sure that the IP fuel return is not blocked, and make sure that the timing chain turns when the engine is cranked-if you remove the oil fill you can likley see the timing gears.

thank you i will look on Wednesday and get back. i think its the screens bc after awhile of bleeding and cranking i got some fuel out the ip (1991 6.2 ip) and i closed the lines and is started and ran for 10 seconds. then died and now no fuel at the ip. also the 6.2 engine sat for 3-4 yrs before i pulled it out to put in my truck

Pull the IP inlet fuel line and remove the IP inlet nipple-it has a couple screens that can get plugged.I would also run some fuel through that line to flush it out.

is it ok to have the lift pump hooked up in an accessory under the dash like i have it?

It will work just fine, but in the event of a crash and fuel being pumped all over even though the engine is off is a safety concern.
