MMM Deer Meat.

Has anyone enjoyed there kill yet.. MMMMMMM we had a awesome deer roast last night.

It was so good........ cooked in a Onion Soup mix.@ 350 for a few hours, then had some longgrain and wild rice with it and garlic carrots in butter.......

Its all gone today went into sandwichs for the boys lunch... Looking in the freezer for something else..

good selection of meat this year. we got a half a cow, an elk and a doe..
Has anyone else enjoyed the taste of the wild meat yet this year?

If so shoot me some recipes,, I have a lot to cook up..

I do have one for cutlets...

Take a beer bottle or a minceing hammer
pound your meat
flour/ salt/pepper then dip it in egg
then cornflake or bread crumbs
deepfry till golden brown.

excellent in lunches.. cold or with soya sauce.. we call it Hospono....:yum::yum:

Not this year so far.

Last year we had deer & bear.

Then a bud of mine went on one of those closed hunts and bagged a buffalo. That was really lean meat.

The elk was so good , better then beef..Ive never had Bear before there all over here. never thought of them as food just a pita cause were chasing them out of our yard everynight in the summer...Buffalo would be good too I guess there treated like beef eh?

Everything I have heard leads me to believe that deer from here in socal is not very good for eating. When I was in Iowa, I enjoyed a few deer summer type sausages a co-worker gave me. I will miss the stuff, as nothing here in socal compares, and I am sure deer sausage or meat for that matter of that quality is not obtainable around these parts :( :(
