Whit 01-24-2008 03:24 PM

maybe some of our fine sponsers here will come up with a 600 buck economic stimulous package :w2:

Uncle Bubba 01-24-2008 03:27 PM

Now if it would warm up enough to get my old tires and rims cleaned up so I can get them sold, along with this tax money then I guess I could finally get that Smarty I want.

Forgot a small detail here. This is assuming that the wife doesn't hear about this tax plan. If she does all my tax plannin don't mean squat.

redneckbuckeye 01-24-2008 05:15 PM

Me and the wife file together, so will we get 1200.00 or 600.00

ndurbin 01-24-2008 05:25 PM

I'll take all the extra dough I can get. That'd make $2100 for the wifey and me atleast tho we have averaged alot more than that the last couple years.

TCU Fan 01-24-2008 05:57 PM

We will do the same as we did last time we got the money. Split it and put it in the kids savings accounts.

sawmillman 01-24-2008 07:20 PM

Tires and collage funds maybe have alittle fun.

redneckbuckeye 01-24-2008 07:33 PM

savings or put it down on another house.

Don't spend your rebate just yet

Washington is working overtime to jolt the economy, but it will probably be May or June before taxpayers see checks.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Washington leaders have agreed on a $150 billion deal to stimulate the economy by giving workers rebates of as much as $600 or more.

But it could be late spring or even early summer before Americans see any real cash.

The goal for both Democrats and Republicans is to get the money into the hands of consumers as soon as possible.

First the Internal Revenue Service has to cut the checks. That's the tricky part.

The agency is now in the middle of the 2007 tax-filing season - not a great time to have to send special checks to 116 million people.

"It is remarkable that the world's leading economic power can't get checks out the door faster than that," Peter Corsage, the director of the Congressional Budget Office, told the Senate finance committee on Tuesday. "But it's a reflection of the fact that the IRS's infrastructure is in a state that's under pressure and consumed, again, with the normal tax-filing season."

An IRS spokesman declined to comment.

If it comes through. Maybe pay the mortgage. :U:

Good, because at -20f I can't, don't feel like, working on the truck anyway. May or June would be fine with me.

Oh and BTW it's just my money they are not taking so much of anyway.

babydoll214 01-25-2008 11:40 AM

I heard that we shouldn't expect them before June. AND that only 75% of the money is going to individuals that actually PAY TAXES! We'll be lucky if we see them at all...

LOGANSTANFORTH 01-25-2008 11:51 AM

I DONT SEE THE PROBLEM!!!!!! they cut that many government checks every month for welfare monkeys.........at every check i request $25 held back from every place i work just because its a good savings account so i should be getting some back......HOPEFULLY.....

Johnny Cetane 01-25-2008 12:20 PM

Problem:

for gaining the rebates of at least $300 for almost everyone earning a paycheck, including those who make too little to pay income taxes
They don't earn enough to pay taxes but they're getting a tax rebate?

Problem: Deficit is over $9 Trillion. Where is the money coming from?

Problem: This solves nothing. They're just buying votes. The deficit gets even bigger and we slide that much more closer to a recession....or worse.

Take the money and put it somewhere safe. You'll need it to live off of.

Actually Logan, you're essentially giving government an interest free loan.

If you keep that $25 for yourself and put it in a money market account, or in a CD, or even in a basic savings account at the bank, you'll get interest on it.

Maybe not 25% return, but better than what the government gives you.

It just takes some dedication to put it in the account and not spend it first.

Just an idea, bud...

LOGANSTANFORTH 01-25-2008 12:42 PM

that dosent bother me, the biggest thing about it is that if i got the cash, it WILL be spent for bills and other stuff (not wasted as you can see by the state of my still setting dead truck), its easier to take a $25 hit on my pay check every week and know i will be getting it back in the future, plus about all the banks down here require 200 or more to even start an account, and i usually dont have that much left after paying my bills every week, if i get lucky i will get 100 to last me til the next pay period, now that i am getting this job at Advance Auto Parts hopefully i will be making ALOT more money......i am just waiting on my W2's right now cause i got to file my taxes.....

You could always capitalize on your natural talent......

Write a book of excuses on how not to get ahead in life and sell millions of copies, become filthy rich, then blow it all on booze, loose women, and a 2wd pulling truck....

:tttt:

sunsetsky 01-25-2008 01:04 PM

Lets not get too far ahead here. It's not a done deal yet. It passed in the house, there's the senate to go, but it seems like it will happen. Soon we can make our list, check it twice, :santa: (is it Christmas? )
...and since its good to plan ahead, here's what we might have to play with ~ it's currently supposed to be max $600 each eligible taxpayer, max of $1200 per couple, then add $300 per child. That is, if the amount doesn't change before it gets approved on the other side, maybe they'll raise it...lol
...they're going to do what they're going to do whether we agree with it or not, so.....

Gerry 01-25-2008 01:37 PM
