We don't have a walmart here, Its about 30 miles from here but Burritos at the store are pretty cheap and a quick easy meal.

99stackedpowerstroke 04-04-2011 10:42 PM

95powersmoker 04-04-2011 10:44 PM

I have a baby camping grill.

I like going to the store and getting some discount meat and grilling on Fridays with some friends and a couple brews.

riddick01 04-04-2011 10:45 PM

easy mac
instant hamburger helper
rice
pizza
sausage (if u have a grill)
hot dogs
burgers
chili meat can be good

one thing that i do every now and then is make a huge thing of stew (probly enough to feed 20 or so) and it will last me a month

also you dont think about it but bigger things like a decent sized brisket or ham (yes its expensive) can last u 10 meals if u make sandwiches

I would buy about 5lbs ground meat beans and tomato sauce which made a cheap chili and i usually made bout 15-20 quarts at a time. then you can have chili, frito pie, I've even done spaghetti with it. Eating it for one or two meals a day I could make about 3 weeks off it

1st_gen_puller 04-05-2011 12:31 AM

pork loins are great buys!!!! like a 15 pounder... slice it grill it throw it in the fridge... smother it in ranch with some fried taters!!!! i love this meal!!!! i can eat for seven days on this for right around 40 bucks... charcoal and all...

Top Ramen mixed with Wolf Chilly, smoked polish sausage and cheese. I always had salad fixings, spaghetti sauce, Hamburger, noodles, to make about anything. A big ole log of baloney to bar-beque when I am out of cash!

Yeah we also kill feral hogs on a regular basis plus a couple calves or deer a year so we always had plenty of sausage to eat also.

bluedieselram 04-05-2011 11:03 AM

mac & cheese
those $1 burgers at walmart they taste better & are bigger then a big mac
fridge pac of RC cola
cheese sandwhich
or go fishing & cook whatever ya catch, some junk fish like mullet or menhaden if you fille them with there scale on then grill them with the scales facing down towards your coals, the scale form sorta like a bowl & you can basically scoop out the fish meat with potato chunks

There are some great ideas on here. :rocking:

CSIPSD 04-05-2011 01:01 PM

I have been making a bunch of pot roasts and pork roasts lately in the trailer... pick up a mid sized crock, throw in the roast, some baby carrots, some onions, some potatos and what ever pepper and salt you like. Turn it on low and come back at dinner time.

made my first pork roast and I am sold!

I thought this said CHEAP college meals, jeez some of you guys ate better in college than I eat now.

Ramen noodles of course,
pizza rolls
giant bag of cheddar chex mix (3lbs) from BJ's wholesale.

Basically whatever we could afford after buying beer for the week. It wasn't much sometimes.

CSIPSD 04-05-2011 02:09 PM

$10-$12 bucks to throw a roast together and you have good food for a week...

95powersmoker 04-05-2011 02:37 PM

I don't have a crock pot... Might have to go look at the goodwill and see if i can find one for cheap cuz that roast idea sounds delicious!

CSIPSD 04-05-2011 03:23 PM

Oh and about a cup of water too in the crock... Almost forgot that part...LOL

Boiler01 04-05-2011 04:00 PM

The chili is a great idea. I make that all winter long. If you're close to a university with an ag school, like Purdue, they usually have a butcher block where the students practice and you can get everything for about half price. Other than that 2 cans of tuna $1.25 and a box of mac and cheese $0.75 is about 2 meals. Eggs I eat eggs breakfast, lunch, and supper. Scrambled add in some cheap ham cheese and salsa, fried, w/toast as a sandwich, hard boiled, etc etc. Remember Hot Sauce makes everything better.:rocking:

bluedieselram 04-05-2011 04:15 PM

i dont like waiting on my crock pot to cook the food.it just making hungrier

I wish we had that... i don't think we do though. My gramp's did teach me about the discount meat section at the grocery store and when to be there after they stock it... lol

Sorry guys, but there is nothing cheap about women... I've found being single is much easier on the wallet than being in a relationship...
