Good point. Also need a good tig/stick, mig welders, lathe, and mill. Need some other odds and ends to go with them too.

MarineOne 03-11-2011 11:37 AM

And a paint booth. You gotta have that, too.

I think I had my dream shop already.

I rented a so called LOX (Liquified oxygen) bunker at the local military airport with three bays. Each pair of the steel doors were 1.6to heavy and no windows in the 25 inch thick walls. So it was pretty much theftproof and safe for the tools.
It was nice and comfortable during summer heat but barely heatable during the winter. I used two 30.000 Btu propane heaters to get some warmth into it.
I used one bay for storage and mounted a 1 ton moveable professional electric crane into the middle bay. Which was cool because I lifted the camper trailer under the roof when not in use.
The sad thing was there was no lift- but I still have my engine hoist which is still ok fore me.

So in the future I would never go without an electric crane- its a must have. The sad thing is that I need 400V to operate the crane which is not that easy to get in public appartment garages.
