I've been boarding for about 5 years now, good to see you got out there and tried it. Your first time out is always the most painful...well, the next morning anyways. The second time out you should be better than ever almost as soon as you start. Where in MI did you go? I've been to a couple places around Detroit/Flint, but they were all like bunny hills compared to what we have here in WNY.

IC Smoke 01-14-2008 08:01 PM

I went to Bittersweet in Kalamazoo. Its not quite Boyne Mtn but still enough for me and somewhat close!

I wished we had some natural snow... that slush crap sucks!!

MotorOilMcCall 01-14-2008 08:32 PM

Haha...Boyne Mtn. is still tiny. Check out Holiday Valley in Ellicottville, NY. Thats where we ride, its one of the top ten in the east. I've been to Breckenridge, CO a few times and its great, but its sooooo packed its not even fun. If you could get to the decent powder areas its great, thats what we did one year when we had the sleds up to take guys up the passes.

Around here this year its been crappy all but a few weekends, and they're always the weekends the truck is down. Slush is bad, ice is worse, it hurts more and really tears up your board, plus with what we call "Flat" light (when its neither sunny nor dark and lit up) its near impossible to see ice patches.

Ow.. i told ya,, but it even hurts on real snow as well, its the way you land, like someone pulling the rug out from under you......We have so much fresh snow here...I went up to my moms and the snow was higher then the truck cab.

It was fun but WOW Im still sore!!! We were on the smaller of the hills (not the bunny hill) and decided to head home... well comming off the hill we had to go down the bunny hill where I tried to stay up... It didnt happen! right near the bottom I cought my front edge and bit it hard! I landed on my arm which went into my ribs and I think ive either cracked a rib or bruised it... It hurts to sneeze, cough, and inhale on a big breath in. Oh well. we're going back next weekend :choochoo::argh: so It will HOPEFULLY be better

MotorOilMcCall 01-15-2008 11:58 AM

Well take it easy on it, no use making yourself worse. Even the best of use catch an edge now and then, darn ski'ers.

babydoll214 01-15-2008 08:18 PM

I'm SO jealous!!! I LOVE to ski and I almost have Bobby convinced that it's fun too. We went to Steamboat Springs, CO for our honeymoon last year. I had a blast, but dang that was a big mountain! It made WV look like one big bunny slope! We had a 5 year old woop us on one trail pretty bad. It was almost embarrasing but we were too exhaused to care at that point!

MotorOilMcCall 01-16-2008 03:17 PM

I still get whomped on by 5 year olds... I could care less, my body has seen 300+lbs linemen, numerous equipment injuries, and other random injuries, losing both my knees permanently is just not something I want to risk :hurt:. Besides, I'm mostly there for the snow bunnies :choochoo:.

Body armour and helmets are a must. Maybe even some wrist guards.
