CB antennas....
For those that remember what a CB is.... :D where do ya'll have your antenna mounted? I can't seem to get a decent ground mounting to the rack or bed and if I run a ground strap down it seems to raise the SWRs....
I don't use mine a whole lot but like listening on the highway sometimes.....thought about a mag mount but don't want to mess with putting on and off....I have a wilson center load whip style I want to use or I have a base loaded whip also I may end up going with..... |
Mines mounted at the front lt side of the bed.

Dead center on the roof is where I put mine when I install. Not the best looking but IMO it's the best spot.

I'm running a base loaded 5' Wilson 5000 with a magnetic mount in the middle of the cab roof, it works very well with my Galaxy 959. I had a K40 that didn't tune worth a crap and threw it away.

smack dab in the middle of the hedache rack on the flatbedhttps://www.dieselbombers.com/member...83-my-whip.jpg.
but you name almost anywhere else and ive problay run them there at one point. my personal favoriate besides the whip was twin 3s on the west coast jr mirrors on my old chevy. |
Larson fender mount on the left side works well.
The wilson 1000 mag mount centered on the roof was good too. Went with the fender mount because of the slide in camper setup. |

I have a Wilson 1000 mounted right at the front of the box (centered or course) on a mount that i made. Dont have any pictures of it though

Problem with box mounts by the cab is you get alot of SWR because your signal gets re-absorbed into the cab (part of your ground plane in essence)
I have a 9 foot whip on my half-ton that's mounted on the drivers bed rail, but halfway back (directly over the tire). That matches great. My buddy has a whip on the passenger bed rail of his ranger all the way to the back, it also matches well. My dodge has a Coil load (think trucker's antenna) on it, mounted to the top rail of the headache rack on my flatbed. Matches pretty well too.... (Though not as good as the 9 foot whip on the chevy. lol) |
