what about butter fly knives? i thought those where illegal here till i found a shop selling them and said they was not.. |
PA - switchblades are illegal, but you can buy the kits. The kits I've seen are not high quality by any means.
I have several butterfly knives. Not illegal as far as I know. I have a Kershaw that opens as fast as any switchblade I've had, :w2: I mean seen.... Bought it at French Creek Outfitters. Very good quality knife.... |
the legality of butter fly knives vary from state to state. as far as i know switchblades are illegal nation wide though.

Here in Texas, both are illegal to possess at ANY time on your person. However, if you have them at HOME, they can be considered a "Curio" and they can stay IN YOUR HOUSE!

i think in some states you can have an "assisted" opening knife.... they sell them here in GA..... at walmart to be exact....

Asissted opening is legal in all states, the front and side open, button activated, springloaded knife aka Switchblades are illegal for posession by any unlicensed persons. The license being an importer license making it legal to import merchandise into the US for re-sale.
I worked at a Frost Cuttlery store for a while and this was how it was explained to me. We sold them and it was perfectly legal to do. It was also legal for you to buy it, but you could not legally carry it out of the store. Go figure how this was expected to work. |
Thanks Doc.
I couldn't find a stinking pic.
