I'm thinking about upgrading to the droid.Does anyone have one and what do you think?

coyropin 05-02-2010 03:23 AM

Rswords has one i think he like it.
I have the samsung moment from sprint which is the knock off or what not but, Its the best phone, the apps are way cool and there are tons.

rsexton721 05-02-2010 05:01 AM

i have one everything on the phone is great except the keyboard i always end up just using the on screen keyboard instead of sliding the phone open, other then that its probably the best phone i've ever had tons of apps to mess around with

RSWORDS 05-02-2010 09:31 AM

Best phone I've ever had. I can watch any movie you can think of (which I download for free, I have 8 or 9 on it right now) It's has over 1,000 of my mp3's on it, I use it as a modem for my laptop (with a free download)... It hand down the best phone ever. All mt friends with iPhones are getting droids as soon as there contract is up.

TCU Fan 05-02-2010 12:17 PM

I have one and I like it. Except for the email, which is no where as good as a blackberry.

No need to pay extra for Verizon Navigation (google maps are free), no need to pay for visual voice mail, there is a free app for that also. Also DL the Dolphin Browser app, it is better then the one that comes on the phone, same as the handset text messaging app. Much better then the one that comes on the phone.

The facebook that comes on the phone sucks, and there is not a good app to replace it with yet.

DB Admin 05-02-2010 01:18 PM

you can teather to a lap top for no xtra charge ?

RSWORDS 05-02-2010 04:06 PM

yes

As long as you don't tell Verizon your doing it... Verizon will tell yo its impossible to do with out their "program" and extra monthly fee to go along with it.

PDAnet will allow you to do it for free though. works great. I use it every week at the firehouse.

The google maps puts my garmin to shame! The satellite overlay during navigation is awesome to to help you figure out were you are going and when a turn is coming. Visual VM is awesome. I like the browser that came with it, have not tried the Dolphin one though.

busta 05-02-2010 04:08 PM

DIRTYMAX2004 05-02-2010 04:22 PM

i am getting a new phone next week too. so is this phone durable? I tend to be hell on cell phones. anyone recommend something else?

RSWORDS 05-02-2010 05:40 PM

Its not indestructible but I'm also hard on phones and its holding up well. I destroyed two of those "indestructible" phones in one year.

Diesel Dawgs Performance 05-02-2010 06:53 PM

i got the Droid Eris and I love mine. I downloaded NFL mobile and got to watch the draft live anywhere I had cell service. :rocking:

97cummins 05-03-2010 01:36 AM

97cummins 05-11-2010 03:30 AM

I got the phone last weekend and so far i like it.I'm still trying to figure out how use some things on it.I'm trying to download a screen saver on it but it won't download?
I like the fact i can visit this site on it,and listen to the radio to.

Diesel Dawgs Performance 05-11-2010 03:39 AM

Pandora is good for Music.......

I also use Flickster, NFL Mobile, Shopsavy and Task Killer

FastCR 05-11-2010 01:25 PM

I got an incredible but went back and got the moto. Now overclocked to 1.3 ghz it runs as smooth as the htc with the snapdragon proc and i just couldn't live without the hardware keyboard. I don't recall which ROM i'm using but it's based off 2.1 with the newer sms prog.
gotta have setCPU, meebo for IM, drudge easy, facebook, twitter, fox news widget, pandora, and some battery level widget that I can't seem to find the name of.

Coolest phone I've had in awhile and I'm a phone WHORE

i use slacker radio on it.I also like that i can plug into the aux. port in my work truck radio and listen through bigger speakers.

97cummins 05-18-2010 01:46 AM

Where do i go put movies on it?and how?:humm:

RSWORDS 05-18-2010 08:53 PM

I use websitefpsp.com

Click movies at the top, then click one of the lists on the right.

Kinda hard to navigate but works well. Save them to your computer, hook your droid to your computer and copy it over. When you go back into your gallery it should be there.

DB Admin 05-18-2010 10:09 PM

if i dont get the unlimited talk mins does the web use come off the talk mins? what are you guys paying?

DB Admin 05-18-2010 10:09 PM

FastCR 05-18-2010 10:12 PM

with vzw your paying $35 a month for smartphone data. its actually capped at 6 gigs or something, but I've never had a problem with it.

DB Admin 05-18-2010 10:14 PM

ill be looking at getting the new droid , i want unlimited internet and email and dont need a lot of mins , can i legally tether this?

what do you guys pay monthly , im going tomarrow

DB Admin 05-18-2010 10:16 PM

There is a list of things i need this to do , 1 is a planner with reminders , 2 is a very loud alarm clock , 3 if i could go to a truck pull and video tape it and immediately upload it to you tube, check emails, take photos, full internet with java support and normal browser, qwerty, long battery life, indestructible, water proof

FastCR 05-18-2010 10:28 PM

I had the HTC incredible for 3 days. It's fast at 1 ghz and the HTC sense UI is really slick. However, the battery life was god awful, and this is coming from someone who used to carry 2 batteries daily for his treo. Also, not having a hardware keyboard just killed me so I went back, got the old moto droid. Has hardware keyboard, more development has been done. I run mine overclocked at 1.1 ghz and its just as fast as the HTC.

Its the most bonerlicious phone I've ever owned. The browser especially with the 2.1 update is really good. However, no flash support until later this year.

DB Admin 05-18-2010 10:37 PM

i was thinking about the DROID ERIS by HTC

DB Admin 05-19-2010 08:09 PM

I'm on my new droid now.
Got the motorola one because the verison guy said I can teather for free but with the incredible I would have to pay for it

Videos wont upload with out WiFi. At least all mine don't. Maybe its because they are too long.

97cummins 06-13-2010 03:09 AM

Where do i go to change the text message notification? Has anyone found any good apps for those.

Diesel Dawgs Performance 06-13-2010 02:42 PM

Handsent

FastCR 06-13-2010 03:17 PM

smspopup. A little tricky for initial setup, but works great and the popup is really handy.

sawed off 06-13-2010 04:56 PM

I got the origional droid, and I love the thing! I use pandora radio and sync it to my radio all the time. as far as the apps go... theres a ton of good free ones. Explain what program or what you are doing to teather to your laptop... kinda currious on how this is done.
