Unfortunately mine is a wood insert that is about 24 yrs. old so it is not nearly effecient enough, but just one more year and I will have either a new insert or a pellet stove.

I burn mainly Doug. Fir and Hemlock, some Alder.

Stove salesman said I should be able to about 1/2 my consumption if I update the stove, just not in the finances this year.

Pellet stoves are verdy nice, some friends of mine years ago had one

Nice thing is (for right now) wood is abundant for me, Just time and energy.

Lord knows it wouldn't hurt me to cut 10 cords a year :w2:if I could find the time.

That's the thing that scares me about pellets, but if I went pellet and replaced my windows predictions are I would only burn about 2-2.5 ton a season with the stove burning almost 12/7 for the 6 months I burn.

Something you may want to check on your saw is the pickup in the tank, if you drained, it have developed splits while stored.
