My husband is currently in Basic for the AirForce. He comes from a family of Airmen. His recruitor never told either of us a lie. He wanted to serve his country, it didn't really matter what job he got.

He did go see a marines recruitor, and I have never heard soooo many lies in my life! Now, that's not to say all marines recruitors lie.

Make sure you talk to a lot of guys that are actually in the army, they wont lie to you, and do research on all of the branches! Also, If you're allergic to anything, you might as well kiss your army stuff goodbye. Last I heard, the branches are getting soo full, that they aint giving out weivers, for any branch.

( correct me if im wrong about anything)

and if you do join, thank you

My Marine recruiter was pretty straight forward....

"I dont want you to be in my Marine Corps unless you want to Be a Marine. If you want college go to one of the other Branches. If I wanted something specific Call some other recruiter."

-SSgt Bening Marine recuiter to me

Truth be told I just joined the first service whos recruiter called me when I filled out the cards and sent them all out on the same day. The next day the Air Force recuiter Called me he seemed a bit in shock when I told him Why and who I was joining and he called second so no dice! Truth be told Im glad the Marine recuiter called first, there is an Legacy that will span time about the Marine Corps and I get to be a part of it.

The waivers are getting to be non existant these days also. They are now Looking for more then a high School Diploma also. I was Talking with an Air Force Bubba, Looks for College Credits and or Eagle Scouts on top of High School Diploma for enlisted. No GED's
The Air Force is by and by the most picky, Honestly for a technical schools the Navy has FAR and I do Mean FAR FAR FAR better schools then the Air Force. I attended an Air Force Electronics Course and it was on Par with the Basic Electrician Course I went to at a Navy School.

When you first join your not gonna get a duty station selection in your contract. they cant predict who they will need where from the time you sign the paper to you being trained and ready to start working. Truth be told you walk into any recruiter being overly picky and they can just send you packing.

Brings up a good point, Snipers are chosen from Infantry people, in the Marine Corps anyway and then even at that they have so much time before they can apply. I take that back there have been some MP's in the Marine Corps that have been able to go to sniper school however they even pickier there about who they send. Those schools are small and they want people who they know will not flake out on them so they tend to be picky.

on a off note A Corpsman told me that anyone from any branch can apply to be a seal, I have yet to verify this. However if you get bored in the army check into it.
