WIFE INVOLVED IN WRECK THIS AM

5 Attachment(s)
My wife was on the way to work this morning and went through an intesection where there was a flashing yellow light due to a train. All of a sudden she gets nailed by an 04 F350 and a little white BMW. Nobody even really knows where the hell the BMW came from, but it is thought that it came out of the road to the right.
Wife is OK just a little sore and a few bruises and very upset. She has never had an accident or even a speeding ticket and she is 43.
My 05 1500 didn't fair so well, but I really think it saved her.
Front wheel ripped off, all steering componets are ripped in half. The cab of the truck was actually pushed back so hard that the campershell is busted at the roof line and looks as if the truck is twisted.

That Sucks MAn

AndyMan 08-14-2007 12:19 PM

That's a bad deal my friend. I'm glad to hear that she's okay!

I was just looking over the pictures again... I don't think I've ever actually seen the balls from ball joints exposed. Ripped them and the tierod sockets completely off!

Benjamin 08-14-2007 12:23 PM

Damn dude. that sux. glad she is alright. i hope insurance pays up because i remember that you said somewhere that that truck had real low miles on it. don't let them (the insurance company) stiff you.

CHenry 08-14-2007 12:24 PM

Glad it turned out well for her...sorry about the truck man!

Johnny Cetane 08-14-2007 12:29 PM

WOW! looks like it would of hurt! glad she was able to walk away basically unscathed.

did you know you can buy a grand cherokee with a diesel now:w2:

rolloffhill 08-14-2007 12:37 PM

Yep, only 17k and it didn't have a scratch on it until today.

Thanks for the well wishes guys. I have been on and off the phone with insurance all day. One thing I did find out though is that they will not cover the campershell. My policy only covers what originally came on the truck from the factory. :madd: :madd:

Today will be the last time you can say that....

Ouch.

Uncle Bubba 08-14-2007 01:12 PM

Just glad she was in somethin big and heavy enough to keep her safe. One of these little cars would have just vanished into thin air with a hit like that.

DB Admin 08-14-2007 01:16 PM

They Totaled it right?

If not may need an alinement

holy crap Mike...wow. I knew you were pretty anal (okay Johnny make a joke about me saying anal) about that truck...then this...real kick to the nads. But who was at fault? And that really sucks about the topper shell. Metal and plastic can be replaced. It's the loved ones that can't be. Good thing she was in a big hunk of metal and plastic though :tttt: thats why my dad got me a truck. His mom told him one time "If your gonna be in a wreck, be the biggest one going the fastest" this is from the same woman who always drove a tank of a car. Hey Johnny...I hear theres going to be a cummins in a 1500 in a few years.

if your wife wasn't at fault the at fault driver's insurance should pay for the topper.....i believe.

they will be. 2009 i think. don't help him much right now though. LOL!

TCU Fan 08-14-2007 02:53 PM

I hope everything works out and some advil is the only thing she needs.

As to the insurance, fight them on the shell. My insurance covers anything that is bolted on, because it becomes part of the vehicle insured once it is bolted. My vans have carpet machines (20k each) in them. We do not carry any extra insurance on the vans because the machine, water tanks and hose reels are bolted in.

IC Smoke 08-14-2007 04:21 PM

Glad to hear she is ok!

bummer about the truck

Ian

JD140h3 08-14-2007 05:12 PM

glad to hear she is ok. a few weeks ago there was a wreck here where some drunk kids blew a stop sign and T-boned a guy in a newer regular cab short box ram. both car and truck rolled at least 3 times and the guy in the truck only had a few bruises.

whiskey 08-14-2007 05:14 PM

Whit 08-14-2007 05:30 PM

new ones roll off the assembly line every few minutes so its no biggie.....................she is OK and thats all that matters my friend

Logan 08-14-2007 07:27 PM

Dang Bro, that sux. Sorry to hear about the wreck but def glad to hear she is not banged up to bad. It all goes back to the Rule Of Lug Nuts...Whoever has the most...WINS. Looks like she was in the middle of that rule. Keep us up to date, and if you need anything, let me know.

jasonfriedlin 08-14-2007 07:47 PM

That sucks man, and worse then the aggrevation of being in an accident is the insurance companies always tryin to save every penny. They ain't nothin but criminals. Atleast it was on a public road, I was involved in a wreck in a parking lot one time. You talk about a pain in the arse, tokk a year and a half to get that straight with the insurance company. Glad your wife made out OK! Just give the insurance company one of these:fu:

Uncle Bubba 08-14-2007 09:33 PM

I rent trailers and once my trailer is hooked to your truck and we sign the paperwork, your insurance becomes liable for it and all the contents. Took me over a year going back and forth between the attorney's and the insurance underwriters commission to finalize the contract verbage to cover everything, but in the end insurance on that vehicle includes anything attached to that vehicle unless a specific clause in your insurance states otherwise and I have only seen that on a few trailer queen show cars and trucks.

2141pete 08-14-2007 11:55 PM

HOLY SH*T mike The net has been down for the last day or so so i just saw this. I am glad she is ok buddy. You are lucky she is ok. At least she wasnt too bad man. This is justification to get another truck though so it can keep the family safe.

Miss Minded 08-15-2007 11:07 AM

Please tell Miss MRaynor I'm glad she is OK! And sorry to here bout the truck.

Miss Minded

GRI 08-15-2007 11:14 AM

wow, Im glad she is alright!

DBogo 08-15-2007 02:08 PM

wow that sucks but shes lucky shes ok, and thats all that matters, trucks can be replaced people cant, and now you have an excuse to get another diesel

MRaynor 08-20-2007 10:07 AM

Update:

So far the estimate is up to almost 12k. The truck is in the shop and already torn down. Campershell is being paid for, along with the nerf bars and bug shield. What is even nicer is the fact that everything is being replaced with brand new Mopar parts, not after market stuff.
Insurance company has been great. Travelers had an appraiser looking at the truck the very next day and a rental car the same day as the accident. So far things are moving along.

Johnny Cetane 08-20-2007 10:19 AM

i can't believe they're fixing it. wow. i'm glasd they're being cool about it mike. fighting insurance companies be such an exercise in frustration. nice to hear it's smooth sailing for ya. :U:

DazedandConfused 08-20-2007 11:50 AM

Glad your wife was OK. Sorry about the truck.

Andy

jasonfriedlin 08-20-2007 09:32 PM

Glad to hear things r goin good.

Diesel Nut 08-20-2007 11:51 PM

Sorry so late jumping in here. I am glad to hear she made it through just fine. by the looks of things it could have been much worse.

At least the Insurance company is stand up. That really makes things easier.

Really makes you think, doesn't it Guys?

UPDATE 2

I finally got my truck back today. I went to pick it up yesteday, and found some a$$hole had hit it in the lot and screwed up the front bumper, but the bodyshop was really quick to replace everything again and were very stand up about all of it. I have no complaints at all. I even went so far as to stop at the service bay and tell those tards that they really needed to take lessons on customer service from the body shop. The body shop manager about died laughing. So far all is good for a total of damage to mine at 13k, they totalled the 2004 Powerstroke when it got to 11k and only gave him 18k for it :ha: and the BMW that got hit by my truck when it was pushed which only left paint on the bumper of my truck came to a little more than $6500. So far all is good. The wife was happy as hell to see the truck again today in the driveway, she was glad not to have to drive the freakin KIA again. Pics below.

Thanks again for all of the well wishes guys, it is greatly appreciated. :U: :U:

Benjamin 09-11-2007 10:09 PM

good deal!!!! looks great..... how does it drive?

MRaynor 09-11-2007 10:16 PM

So far so good. It has a whole NEW rack and pinion under it. I drove it about 30 miles home. It rides smoother than before the wreck. But time will tell and I have a warranty on it for as long as I own it.

Benjamin 09-11-2007 10:18 PM

that's good to hear..... be sure to use it...... are ya'll looking to keep the truck till the wheels fall off, again, or trading it in in the future?

MRaynor 09-11-2007 10:24 PM

To be honest, I really haven't thought about it. Are you looking for a truck?

Benjamin 09-11-2007 10:34 PM

um.... no not unless it's free.... and even then my wife would have a problem with it cause i have too many as it is.....

i was just mentioning it because your trade-in would be LOW since it was a substantial wreck like that....

MRaynor 09-11-2007 11:03 PM

Nope, that isn't the case, so far. It isn't an old truck, so everything is good.
