Cooking

here i go again got my sights set high on some ham and bean soup with cornbread , im sure its going to turn out to be crap like all the rest of my high hopes in the kitchen.

Like my famous Mash Potato and Ham Soup / Amazing Paste contraption

3 cans of navy beans
2 cans of chicken stock
1 lb diced ham
1 onion

crock potting it for an hour then will try to make some corn bread i got the mix should be able to pull it off in the mixing stages perfectly but the oven time will probably be an epic fail.

i seriously cant cook at all , like if it wasnt for my wife i would eat out every meal

handymanherb 11-28-2009 12:12 PM

Come on you can still pull off a few dishes that will make you a hero, I make a cheese ball that people love and my Banana pudding is now a standing order at Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.

Both are easy to make, the cheese ball even my dog loves it, the hotter the better, I didn't think the kids would like the hotter version either but when I made a mild one no one ate it, the hot one was gone.

If you want I'll share the recipes, but don't blame me if you end up making it the rest of your life

DB Admin 11-28-2009 12:23 PM

well 1 hour was up , its barly warm , put it on for another hour , my projection is the beans will be mush before the onions soften

Dr. Evil 11-28-2009 12:30 PM

Follow a recipe dipshit.

If you cant make soup youre in serious trouble.

Chicken soup - get a roasted chicken from the grocery store - cut the meat off
Into the pot goes 3 quarts of chicken stock.
Chop up 4 or 5 big carrots, 2 onions, 5 cloves of garlic, 3-4 stalks of celery, and put them in the stock in the pot.
Bring to a boil for a bit, then throw in some pasta (broken up spaghetti works good), and the chicken. If it gets too thick just throw in some extra stock.
I also like to add some parsley and some Franks Hotsauce.

There - now you can be supermom.....lol

DB Admin 11-28-2009 12:32 PM

they are all different !

handymanherb 11-28-2009 12:35 PM

:badpun:

i went ahead and fried up 2 burgers and set the crock pot on low for 9 hours and pushed start !!

greasemonkey 12-08-2009 11:47 PM

DM, I'm so confused, the crock pot is one of the most forgiving forms of cooking ever!

Try this: http://www.a-crock-cook.com:tu:

They'll practically hold your hand and do it for you, no creativity or thinking involved, just find something that sounds good. And a pointer, read through the whole recipe first so you know what you'll need and how long it'll take. (1/2 hr prep + 6 hours cooking means you'll need to start it at noon in order to eat it for dinner...)

Dr. Evil 12-09-2009 12:08 AM

WOW - outsmarted by a crock pot...lol

DB Admin 12-09-2009 07:48 AM

well to add insult to injury (or starvation) im now 25 miles from home because we lost power , just paid $3 for internet at mcdonalds because i have a buisness meeting in 30 mins and all i know is the place is in this town my plans were to look up the location this morning ... no power so i was screwed. so it 45 mins away from the metting and im sure i am with in 20 mins of the place so im getting a map now ... so anyway 1550 out of power and im in the center of it. needless to say i used a flash light to make it to the crockpot and it was cold i have no idea how long it cooked....

this is me throwing in the crockpot towel, its just not ment to be

DB Admin 12-09-2009 01:34 PM

Went to the 30 mins meeting that took 3 hours and the office was about 125* the entire time , when it was over i called an old friend that lives in that town and meet him at BW3's drunk and drunk ate 24 hot bbq wings and drunk some more , waiting it out drunk a water and a coffee and just made it home and the power is back on now so life is good again :c:

I took my laptop and showed them our sites and some graphs and data and they about flipped out now The Small business incubator for ohio wants me to hold a siminar on web deign and ecommerance , i respecfully declined the offer

Budgreen 12-09-2009 02:04 PM

just get a pork roast, drop it in there fill it with water so it covers the roast, throw in a bay leaf, some salt n pepper and whatever else you may like, and turn it on first thing in the morning, check it maybe once or twice durring the day to make sure the water level is still up. around dinner time drain the water, stick just the roast back in on low and SHRED it up and add a bottle of your favorite bbq sauce! wa-la pulled pork anyone can make.

or, just stick to :pca1:

Azrattler 12-09-2009 10:06 PM

bud that sounds alot easier than the pulled pork i made...woke up at 5:30am to start the coals and it was done at 6 at night..8 1/2lb pork butt in the smoker...but i tell ya what it was amazing..

millco 12-10-2009 01:37 AM

Put the crock pot back down! Don't throw it - if you break out a window in this weather you will have more problems than just being hungry.

Crocks are great! Put the food in before you leave in the morning, turn it on (Call me at this point and I can ask you if you turned it on!), and when you come home at night the wonderful smell will remind you it's time to eat!

Cooks.com has some great recipes as well. Hang in there, you learn how to do this and then you can teach me.

(I do wonder if you don't need a simpler crock pot . . . . . :w2:

bosslady 12-10-2009 06:12 AM

geez cooking in a crock pot is soo simple... if your cooking a meat... you put it on in the morning...if your making something like soup....put it on at noon...dinner will be ready between 5-6.... (whenever you wish)

if your cooking roast in the crock pot..... you should cover the meat in oil, salt, pepper, garlic ( and whatever else you like)..... heat a skillet to med high....brown all sides of the meat..... ( locks in the flavor and moisture)

then put that baby in the pot...fill it with water almost to the top of the meat... throw in some chopped potatoes and carrots.... i flip my meat about noon...

before your ready for dinner... pull that sucker out on a plate.... slice....

got a yummy meal :tu:
