Swine Flu

Have any of you guys or gals gotten it yet? It ran through this house and MikeyR got it full blast. He stayed in bed with a headache, backache and really high fever for 4 days. No vomiting or diareha(sp), but he was down for the count. The wife and I had symptoms for about 2 weeks, but not like Mikey got.
I'll tell you guys this, IT IS NOT AS BAD AS WHAT IT IS BEING MADE OUT TO BE. Just read the comments on news articles about it and most people say the same thing I did. Even Mikey said he would take that over the regular flu any day.

I never get the Flu shot. I can't even remember the last time I had the Flu. :nope:

Wyatt Earp 11-18-2009 09:25 AM

Never had and never will have a flu shot. Chemical warefare is not something I support. I don't really ever get the flu either.

I was reading in the paper yesterday that all this media spin has really upset the Canadian Federal Gov't as fewer people in Canada have actually died from the H1N1 than the seasonal flu that hits us every year.

Don't get me wrong I am deeply saddened by anyone that either gets or has a family member that gets sick but I think we owe it to ourselves to understand how and why.

It should also be noted that you have a better chance of getting hit by lightening than dying from H1N1 - almost 100x more likely at that.

Remember this folks, SARS was going to kill us all, H5N1 (bird flu) was the second coming and we were all doomed and now this...

Take your vitamins, eat well and laugh everyday. A beer once in a while doesn't hurt either.:c:

Agreed. I have not and will not get vaccinated...it's a flu! The media has overblown the whole thing. It's really only a big issue in third world countries that already have a hard enough time dealing with such things. It is sad for those who have died from it, but I did some math last week and only 0.6% of infected Canadians have required hospitalisation...

Wyatt Earp 11-18-2009 11:20 AM

Exactly, and far fewer than that are really on deaths bed.

35M people in Canada, using 0.6% in hospital that's = 210,000 and less than 2 out of every 1000 of those actually die. The numbers for the seasonal flu are 50x that.

The media has a major role to educate and inform but in the past decade they have been using that power to scare and intimidate.:td:

That is so true, im more worried about dropping something heavy on my foot at work then getting the Swine Flu:argh:

rkadcock 11-18-2009 01:28 PM

Its all hype because its the new epidemic... Like it has been said, the common flu is more dangerous than H1N1.

wildbill 11-18-2009 01:32 PM

I got the flu, being vaccinated or not. Virus mutates all the time, so the flu shot is total BS. :argh::argh:

Pyro690 11-18-2009 06:05 PM

I have never got the shot in my life (29). Most years worst I get is a cold, once in awhile a 12 hour flu. 2 times I have had a flu last more than 24 hours. I really don't think H1N1 is as bad as the media makes it sound. :c:

FastCR 11-18-2009 08:21 PM

I've had the shot a couple times. I usually get it. I'm asthmatic and any respiration problems go downhill fast. Not gonna get this one though, as if I even could.

Effing old people. Making me late everywhere I drive and takin all the meds :argh:

MRaynor 11-18-2009 08:32 PM

We never get a flu shot, nor will we even think about the H1N1 shot. Hell, that is the first time that Mikey has ever missed school for being sick in 10 years.
I just wanted to see how you guys were doing with it.

2500HeavyDuty 11-18-2009 08:38 PM

al gore invented h1n1

Dr. Evil 11-18-2009 11:45 PM

Yeah - I saw that on the internet - must be true....lol

I had the regular flu shot 2 or 3 times - mostly because I wanted to try it out and the company I worked for was paying. Didnt really make a difference - in fact my arm hurt for a couple of days and I didnt feel good for a couple of days after - other than that - made no difference at all.

Certainly wont be getting the H1N1 shot - heard too many strange things about what is in it.

Whit 11-19-2009 05:13 AM

My G/F had it and it took her down hard for 2 weeks.........I am slowly getting her "nursed" back to normal

Captn_tyler 11-19-2009 11:58 PM

You gotta get sick to stay healthy... Too many meds created super strains of staph.

blkjack 11-20-2009 12:10 AM

With all this about things being super clean we are slowly loosing our immunity to things so pretty soon the slightest things are going to make us sick. I mean i am all about being clean and what not. not like eating off the floor or nothin like that and personal hygene but there are certain strains of bactiria our bodies need to keep our immune system up. And plus the doctors and pharmacudical companies and dont forget the good ol gov. gotta make money some how so lets make up a new disease needin some more money people are getting used to the last ones we made and are not getting as sick anymore
