Swine Flu
Have any of you guys or gals gotten it yet? It ran through this house and MikeyR got it full blast. He stayed in bed with a headache, backache and really high fever for 4 days. No vomiting or diareha(sp), but he was down for the count. The wife and I had symptoms for about 2 weeks, but not like Mikey got.
I'll tell you guys this, IT IS NOT AS BAD AS WHAT IT IS BEING MADE OUT TO BE. Just read the comments on news articles about it and most people say the same thing I did. Even Mikey said he would take that over the regular flu any day.

Never had and never will have a flu shot. Chemical warefare is not something I support. I don't really ever get the flu either.
I was reading in the paper yesterday that all this media spin has really upset the Canadian Federal Gov't as fewer people in Canada have actually died from the H1N1 than the seasonal flu that hits us every year.
Don't get me wrong I am deeply saddened by anyone that either gets or has a family member that gets sick but I think we owe it to ourselves to understand how and why.
It should also be noted that you have a better chance of getting hit by lightening than dying from H1N1 - almost 100x more likely at that.
Remember this folks, SARS was going to kill us all, H5N1 (bird flu) was the second coming and we were all doomed and now this...
Take your vitamins, eat well and laugh everyday. A beer once in a while doesn't hurt either.

Agreed. I have not and will not get vaccinated...it's a flu! The media has overblown the whole thing. It's really only a big issue in third world countries that already have a hard enough time dealing with such things. It is sad for those who have died from it, but I did some math last week and only 0.6% of infected Canadians have required hospitalisation...

Exactly, and far fewer than that are really on deaths bed.
35M people in Canada, using 0.6% in hospital that's = 210,000 and less than 2 out of every 1000 of those actually die. The numbers for the seasonal flu are 50x that.
The media has a major role to educate and inform but in the past decade they have been using that power to scare and intimidate.
