I hate being bored

We went from full blast can't get stuff done fast enough to nothing to do. I have to force myself not to do things so my guys will have something to do, I am bored. I might have to get back on the Fodge next week if something doesn't pick up:pca1:

Man I hear ya. I've been slow as hell here for a month. My boss is a useless tit which also doesn't help. I'm supposed to be working OT to save hours for christmas!!! Not going to happen though if he can't get his act together.

I was pondering starting a thread just like this weeks ago :w2:

Cheers to the rant! It sucks but at least I'm not the only one...
Yes, I'm still employed...but internet surfing for half the day hardly counts towards my repertoire of professional qualifications...

If anyone has any advice I'm open...I'm going NUTS!!

Last week and the weekend we were hauling corn out of a field to a batch dryer. I had 7 trucks on the job for 76 hours straight. We have been hauling fill for the last 2 weeks from 3 different sites. For the last month we have had a higher number of crush and run calls for driveways then normal.

Monday it started raining, well it’s Thursday and it’s still raining. I have 8 trucks running sand to a sand bag filling machine and 5 small trucks with trailers running pallets of sand bags around the city. We have more orders for rock then we can deliver. The 2 local rock quarries will not go to extended hours.

The rain should end sometime tomorrow. Both quarries are shutting down Sunday because of the weather. Monday looks to be hauling rock for driveways mostly. Wednesday we will have slowed down and my part timers will be calling me wanting some hours not me calling them.

Right now I’m down to 5,500 gallons of fuel in my tanks. The local tank farm lost power on Monday and is still working one shift. Late Monday I ordered fuel from 3 different delivery companies and they all have me on the list for some time tonight so I’m sleeping in my office. Most of the local gas stations only have regular gas and diesel but there prices are sky high.

I have been lucky this year. We did not have to lay off any full time employees. I’ve been able to give my part time employees a few days a week if they wanted it and part of the time if they didn’t want it.

We just got another emergency alert. More heavy rain for a few hours and flooding thought the night.

Our main phone lines will not stop ringing. People don’t understand that we don’t have gravel. You are ordering it from the quarry and we deliver it to you, or as 99% of the people do you call us and we order it on your behalf from the quarry and deliver it with a combined bill. I swear some people think we have a huge pile of crush and run sitting out back ready to go.

I’ll take a few slow days please.

I scored. I just got a call asking if I wanted to do a bulk buy on 3 loads of fuel (33,500 gallons) at $2.279 a gallon (33,500. The first one is on the rail now and they will send them about 10 min apart. The bad part it’s a 45 to 60 minute drive for them.

I’ll make it home to sleep in my own bed tonight.
