a rabbit

Okay, so my basement is below ground level, and it has windows that are sunk into the ground with holes dug out next to them that have a vertical drop. A rabbit fell into one of them and now its stuck in there. Its about a 4' drop.
I feel bad letting the little guy die in there, but I'm phobic of (live) wild animals. Do rabbits bite? :humm:

cummins95 10-12-2009 06:32 PM

shouldn't just get a good thick pair of leather gloves n pick him up by the scruff of his neck, just below his ears, wear long sleeves cuz he might kick

mishkaya 10-12-2009 06:58 PM

It will most definitely try to kick, and will probably try to bite if given the chance, but with some gloves you should be safe. I think it would be the right thing to do to set it free. :ok1:

TTipsword 10-12-2009 07:27 PM

it wont bite if its a baby. its just like a pheasent, goose, or any wild animal that isnt carnivorus. they usually will just freeze in your hands, and if they do try and bite it tickles more than anything. my dog caught a little baby rabbit once. didnt hurt it a bit. just fetched it to me. i tried rasing it and was doing good for several weeks before he died :(

DB Admin 10-12-2009 07:33 PM

note to self , rabbits dont eat dog food

bosslady 10-12-2009 07:39 PM

Ryan, Rabbits do bite. like they said put on a pair of gloves and a coat... grab it by the scruff of the neck and set him down on the ground ...he will run away... i promise :U::pals:

DB Admin 10-12-2009 07:53 PM

Dr. Evil 10-12-2009 09:57 PM

He will definitley try to scratch the hell out of you with his back feet. But if you have some long gloves and pick him up by the scruff of the neck like someone else suggested, you should be fine. Another suggestion is to put a board or something in the hole he can climb out by himself n- I think that would be the best way to get it out.

wildbill 10-12-2009 10:10 PM

Trying to capture him sill send it into shock, so be sure it's away from the house when you set it free.

Bucket Truck 10-12-2009 11:34 PM

They kick, scratch, bite, and scream when picked up.

stkdram55 10-13-2009 12:32 AM

yeah, step on one those bastards while its dark walking to your tree stand...it will scare the crap out of it

they will growl kick and try to bite, but there not exactly tough critters.. just grab it with a glove and shove it into a box.. then open the box out in the yard somewhere..

also... maybe an avatar change is in order? :ouch::lolleft:

Dr. Evil 10-13-2009 01:48 PM

You could also lower some sort of bag in a rope...when he step onto the bag, yank it out of the hole.

teamcowboyup 10-13-2009 07:47 PM

thread a rope through a pipe and make a loop at one end slip it over its neck pull tight but not to tight unless you want stew meat and then just yank it on out and set it free or do the same deal but instead of setting it free pop it in the head and skin it and put it over a nice slow hickory wood fire and and a lil garlic and some pepper and when the meat starts to fall off the bone it is done

Budgreen 10-14-2009 11:52 AM

We want updates!

is it free, eaten, or starving?

Lostnwalmart 10-14-2009 04:39 PM

Captn_tyler 10-14-2009 05:08 PM

Budgreen 10-14-2009 06:53 PM

we need a poll on what he should do with it now that it's died lol

Pyro690 10-14-2009 07:56 PM

If it was/is cold enough it just frooze the meat. Its still good. Its still good. Haha.:c:

Budgreen 10-14-2009 09:04 PM

i forsee someone here ending up with an unexpected frozen rabbit in a ups box on their doorstep in the next day or so.

handymanherb 10-14-2009 09:18 PM

That's just sad, let it suffer a slow death, would have been better to pull it out and kill it for the meat or let it go.
