I'm always wondering about the bad diesel rep in the US. Whats wrong over there? Over here nearly every second car is a Diesel.:pca1:

they were unreliable back in the early 80's when they came out with them, the motor was loud, and a few other deals

Tell me about it.I was trying to explain the other side of diesels to a coworker last week, and he wouldn't believe me.

that damn 5.7 ruined it all for us.

When I was 2001 in El Paso everybody had I smile on me, because I often asked them why they go with gas and driving such huge distances. They told me:
-Diesel is more expensive than gas.
Thats true, but Diesel gives you much better mileage so it's still cheaper example:20mpg with gas compared to 28 mpg with diesel.

-Diesels are kinda lame.
I have taken them with a Jetta TDI ride. They were wondering...
There is no more smoke and smell, execpt you really want it.

-They told me Diesel is far more expensive than gas. Yes, it's the same over here-
but it is much more (heavy duty)relaiable than gas. No more changin' spark plugs and hassle with the ignition.
The only truck I thought that thing is noisy was that Ford truck. But sounded harsh and kinda cool.

My first Diesel was 1.6TD Passat. That thing was really noisy, rattling, but you could go at least 600miles without refueling with a 55 litre tank, thats 14.5 galls. And when I sold it, it had 270000 miles on the odo and still running.

By the way only girls go with the new beetle:lol:
But it doesn't matter as long as you don't have a rainbow sticker(Over here you can recognize them being gay with that sticker) on your car.

-Every car being sold over here, is available at least in one diesel version. Usually more with different engines.

-Every US car being sold over here is available as a Diesel!
I'm still wondering. If I would be a dealer, I would change into Diesel sales. What a huge market!
You can't divide by noise a modern gasser or a Diesel at the stoplight. But you can tell on the Autobahn. Don't even try to mess with the Diesels. They go easy above 160mph...
It's no more IDI. It's Common Rail now. Siemens is going to develop glow plugs with integrated pressure sensors. That means they can control each cylinder indvidually. More injection of Diesel, much cleaner burning and a lot more power.

In my opinion the Diesel Revolution just has started!
Sorry for being off topic, I just had to make way for my thoughts.:argh:
