I am a canine foster parent...this is my latest child.

His name is Carl... 17 months old now...he was kept in a small cage in a very dark room for most of his life...still adjusting to the outside world. Very sweet, just needs some coaching. He'll make a great kid's dog.

My dad took these pictures a few months ago during Carl's 1st birthday party at the truck shop....all men in our family get a birthday party at the truck shop, including the dogs....sorry, no pics of the poodle strippers.

a blue heeler is a mix between austrailian sheperd and dingo. the dingo is what gives them the special attitude that i and other heeler owners love.

i coudlnt be a foster parent for doggies...i get attatched to animals WAY too quick...within a couple of minutes a dog can steal my heart ..... im really tender hearted too... i wouldnt be able to stand to see a dog being takin frome me...

but I am glad someone can :U: i think its best for a dog to be in a home than a shelter... keeps them being pets and not caged animals... :U:

Animals hold a special place in my heart. At the beginning I wanted to keep them all, but being able to care for them in their time of tremendous need, nuturing them, showing them that not all people are worthless pieces of crap, and seeing the look on their face when they bond with their new lifelong owner...well, that's a pretty cool feeling.

The process to adopt these animals is pretty intense....background checks, multiple visits, home checks, etc. They go to good homes, so it makes it a little easier to give them up...still hard, though...can't lie & say it isn't.

I used to believe I could never do it.....after working in animal shelters, wildlife rehab centers, and becoming directly involved in the extraction of abused/neglected animals from their previous horrendous living conditions, I found the inner strength to detach just enough from the possessive instincts and become a helper/caregiver for them.

It's kinda neat to see the end results. :)
