Mine is borderline high 135/90 and I am trying to change my diet and loose 10 lbs. The Dr. i have is a drug pusher and wants me on meds but i refuse since it's only borderline and i can still change it myself.

i'm 130 over 90

my wife has osteo and rheumatoid arthritus and has had them both for the last 20 years...

I forgot about caffeine, known vasoconstrictor. Need to limit it's use as well. This can be a biggy for some.

Getting older sucks don't it.
One more thing for your HBP, If you smoke, stop.
Get a cat, i read where simply petting a cat can lower your BP by 5 points when you might otherswise feel stressed.

I'm only 33 and don't smoke. My dogs would have a fit if I got a cat.

Heath 06-06-2007 10:54 AM

A tank full of fish does the same:)

Well lookin back when I was 22 I was borderline on HBP then they put me on meds at age 34...keep in mind that I was extreamly active during all this time but ate about what the rest of my family did combined...I was also 6-2 and 22 lbs so I wasnt over weight by no means either.the meds kept me pretty well in control until last year when a ton of extra stress was added to my life and my blood pressure skyrocketed to 145/103 and was consistent there daily for almost 3 months...it felt like my head was gonna pop off and my eyes blow out the hole...anyway the doc has put me on some new stuff called Hydroclorot....I only do 25 mg per day and my blood pressure is down now to actually a normal reading which I havent seen since my twenties.....................I have also started jogging 5 miles 3 times a week but my work schedule only allows this every other week so that messes me up some.......OK listen up cuz this is the best tip you will get right here for the ache jopints..........my joints are wore out according to the doc he has seen better joints on a 70 yr old man ..anyway I take 2 tablets a day =1000 milligrams of gluecosamine with conjoitren (SP) it took about 6 weeks for me to notice the difference but I couldnt work without it trust me...........it usta be sometimes I could hardly wipe my own butt (TMI) without pain in my arms, wrists, elbos and shoulders were the worst................I also about a 2 yr later ran out of this gluecosamine with conjoitren and decided to not get more...big mistake cuze with a month I was back to the same ol ballbaby that couldnt pick my own nose without paain in my joints........I went back and got moreof the stuff and it took about 6 weeks for me to get back in the groove again.............do it man you wont be sorry..its over the counter stuff and will make you a new man

There no good literature data on the chondroitin/glucosamine products, but there are plenty of testimonials...as seen above. It's definitely worth a try.

I use a product called Daily Wellness - it is the human version of a product made for animals called recovery. OMG does it work - takes pain away in joints, makes you have bounce in your step and gives you that extra zoom in the morning. I also do the glucoimine as well but find that the results are a bit lack luster and use Advil to boost the effects on bad days. (Arms, wrists, shoulders and knees for me).

Oh and I'm only 32!

When the BP was stupid high I used to work at a desk for 14 + hours per day 6 days per week and eat shit and drink lots of beer. I was badly overweight for my height of 5'11 (225 #) and BP was like 190/110. I stopped all of that and started getting things sorted out. I was 22 at the time and the doc said if I kept it up I WOULD NOT see my 30th birthday. I am medication free and have normal high blood pressure that is diet and stress related. Diet and activity play a huge role - more than you'd now. I can run 10km now without being tired and feel pretty good about life (in comparision to before) I weigh in at just under or just over 200 now and the waist line is 34" - if you are over 38" you multiply the factors of BP by 5 fold I bet you didn't know that one!

Anyway, been there done that have the shirts.

Cheers
