DUI

Now here's a hard core drinker and one tough Dodge truck.

The driver hit the left turn light at 48th Ave. And 27th St. and sheared off the light post at the base, and then kept driving on about 2 miles to Squires Four Pub, where he stopped for more beer!! How impaired do you have to be to NOT notice that you are carrying a stop light? ( I Wonder if the light was green? )

The truck was towed about 2.5 miles to the Vernon towing yard, with the light still pinched between the two tow hooks and the bumper bent around it

It took several good hard pulls with a backhoe to get the pole free.

I can just imagine the conversation-

Operator- "This is 911. What is your emergency?"
Drunk- "I was (hiccups) driving down the road and (hiccups) heard a noise and now there's a damn space ship stuck to my hood!"
Operator- "A space ship, sir?"
Drunk- "Yeah a (hiccups) g**damned space ship and it's stuck to my hood!It was flashing red, yellow and green but it stopped now"
Operator- "OK...What is your location, sir?"
Drunk- "Squires Four Pub! (hiccups) Please hurry I don't want to miss happy hour."
:argh::se:

Have to hit one of the front quarters, like in front of the tires to get the air bags deployed. No sensors in the middle of the truck.

Mr.Krabs 04-06-2009 05:11 PM

Now that dude needed a drink

I was under the impression there are no sensors out in the fenders, just an inertia switch under the seat?

Red_Rattler 04-06-2009 07:14 PM

That would actually be the smartest thing to do :D "Gosh officer, heck no I wasn't drinking at the time. But, I was so shock up after the accident I had to drink this whole bottle of Black Berry Brandy to calm my nerves." :D

Wonder if he stopped at the Wal-Mart for a fresh pair of undies. :w2:

FarmDiesel 04-06-2009 09:23 PM

Hmm. Kinda reminds me of the time in my 'ol 7.3ps I turned a fishtail into a 180' and ran over a culvert... Had a reflector stuck to my rear bumper when I got home. :w2:

the air bag system is triggered off acceleration/deceleration sensors. it takes a pretty good impact to trigger the system though. it looks like alot of damage but it probably didnt jarr the truck too much beacuse that pole is a pretty small diameter. basically the air bag system has a see a specific amount is g-force to trigger. its hard to tell by the photos but the bags may have deployed, or atlest the drivers did and the pass may have been turned off too.
