My Delima

So i'm having alot of trouble deciding what i want to do with my life. On one hand there is fashion and the other is cars. i love them both but it flip-flops back and forth. But once i choose one there is no going back since both fashion design schooling and auto diesel college is expensive. The thing with fashion though is if i dont make it big then i dont really make much money. it's hard to be the best when there are so many competitors out there.(and i'm wanting to own my own business whichever way i go) but compared to doing auto diesel work the money difference is HUGE if i'm at the top of the list.
Right now i am leaning towards doing stuff with cars. One thing influencing that is i will be bombing my truck through the rest of college so it will allow me to practice stuff while i'm in school. but i still have that love for fashion so that's why i'm not so sure. i'm not really going to be like "oh one of you said i should do car stuff so i'm gonna do that" i'm just lookin for some input i guess. idk...:humm:

(yeah so i just realized i speeled dilema wrong. but oh well. i suck at spelling.)

sounds like 2 completely different paths

Big_Johnson 11-02-2008 07:04 AM

yeah they are which makes it an even harder choice since i can't just jump from one to another if i end up not liking one of them.

Had you thought about going to a community college to get you basics out of the way. While doing this get a job doing each (even if it is a low paying internship) and see how you like it.

Big_Johnson 11-02-2008 09:10 PM

well i'm actually at a community college right now doing that very thing. and i've got a job but it's not a very good paying one. but i'd probably be having to drive to nashville every day which is about a 30 minute drive or so to do an internship for fashion design. and that's even if they have that position. i've tried getting a job at like oil change places but it was my first job and they wanted someone with more expierence. and the only like truck/car shop that does the custom stuff i'd want to do is about 45mins-1hr away. so that's alot of fuel i'll be using to get back and forth.

i think i have decided to go to auto diesel college though. just cuz i have always had a love for cars/trucks and i think i'll have alot of fun with it.

I'm confused what exactly is a dilema?:humm:

Big_Johnson 11-02-2008 10:17 PM

lol. it's like a problem.

Are you kidding me? FASION? and DIESELS? You have a MAJOR Straight / Gay conflict raging inside you! I suggest you seek Professional help.

lol lol lol

If you're straight, the fashion world is going to get you a lot more chicks.

If you're gay, the fashion world is going to get you A LOT more dudes.

Either way, sounds like fashion wins.

Fashion also isn't going to tear apart your body. No hearing damage, arthritis, back and knee problems or maimed body parts.

It probably won't pay as much unless you're good at it. The Diesel world pays pretty good if you're willing to be a pleb; I don't know how good the fashion world pays, but I'd imagine not-as-much based on what I've seen in Ugly Betty.

Dude, I had the best fashion idea the other day: pants that zip from the top down instead of the bottom up. And please bring back the top hat and beards. If you can't swing top hats, at least bowlers.
