That's good to hear, Bill. Now you just have to kind of monitor yourself and have your family watch for changes in you too.
Meds can stop working, seemingly out of the blue. I've seen it in people and their doctors have said that certain people's bodies can develop a sort of tolerance to certain meds. Now, all of those people were treated for other mental issues besides/instead of A.D.D./A.D.H.D. but just keep it in the back of your mind. Maybe have your doctor find out how likely it is to happen with your diagnosis. I'm not saying this to be a doom and gloomer but just so that you're aware and don't get discouraged if it happens to you. |
I've heard that too for lots of different medical conditions. GRI, you said you still want to see that doc and use counseling w/ the meds, sounds like a good idea, esp with what Johnny said about the effects of the meds changing over time. Usually, if that happens, it's gradual change, if you are working with a good doc, he'll help you navigate any changes that you or your family sees.
Sounds like great news for you, the meds helping so quickly!!! It's really good that you took action for yourself and your family life!! :U: :) |
time will tell. But i may have to stop these if I am going to be up until 3-4 every night. lol
I did take it later in the day and they recomend you take it in the morning and definitley not after 6PM. I took it at 1 or 2 or something. I took it this morning and I dont feel as "JACKED" as I did yesterday but I am definitly mmore alert and awake feeling. which is weird for the lack of sleep. |

When I was 5 yrs old I was diagnosed with ADHD and started taking Ritalin. Around 13 yrs old I had to stop taking it because the doctors said the dosage I required was getting too large for my system to handle. My parents decided not to do anything about it at that point hoping that I would grow out of it, which I did to a certain extent. Mainly I just learned how to cope with it and carry on.
A couple of years ago I decided to start doing some research and came upon a something that I felt explained my eccentricities far better then ADHD did. After consulting with one of my moms friends who happens to be a psychologist, we concluded that I have a mild form of autism called Aspergers Syndrome. Aspergers can be treated with medication and therapy but fortunately for me I have learned how to cope well enough over the years that I would gain little benefit at this point. Here are from web sites I found useful: Basic Characteristics Asperger Syndrome Moose |
Interesting :humm:

I got a sentence in and forgot what I was reading about... my bad... LOL.... I think almost all of us here have A.D.D. or else we'd be out doing something different... I had it as a child and then was declassified... I still show symptoms... just concentrate on bettering yourself and try and not let things distract you... you will learn to live with it... and if it keeps getting worse, then find a therapist that is licensed and see what they say...

lol, dude I am 32. it isnt getting better its getting worse.
The guy I am seeing is nationally known for ADD research, so if he finds nothing then I have to look elsewhere. |
