all the guts are stock, when its all finished and running i will pull it back out and do a complete rebuild of it. my last 302 i had bored over to a 308 and it had heads, cam, intake and all the other small things. so im thinking about going the same route on this motor. BUT im setting it up for the street, going to make it corner like its on rails so im not to worried about how fast it will be.

hey how bout putting 460 under that instead of that little 302. just get some heavier springs and that would be a cool little street machine

slowtowpig 07-27-2008 05:16 PM

to heavy on the front, will cause to much oversteer(which is bad from the factory) for what im building it for.

im not a big fan of 460s, they belong in a boat.

ive seen many small block fords get into the 6's in the 1/8, but like i said this car is being built for the corners

CumminsCrazed 07-29-2008 09:27 PM

sounds like itll be a fun ride when its all done......but why rebuild the top end (intake etc.) if your gonna just tear it all back down again and re rebuild it.....

slowtowpig 07-29-2008 09:37 PM

i dont know, thats how ive always done it.

Cool, that should work real well. My buddy is into Fox bodies and has had a few. He has tried sveral designs for cold air, but I don't recall which he liked the best. I guess the key is just getting that cold air. Should be a real fun ride when it is finished.

That looks like a REALLY fun project.

What all do you need to do to convert to a V8? Do you just replace the whole subframe or do you just replace certain parts of the original subframe?

Did you replace the interior parts or just repaint them?

i replaced the dash pad with a black oem remake from dashes direct, i replaced the seats with one out of a 93gt but they will be recover black, there a few other things on the inside i replaced.

as for the v8 swap...

you can use the factory sub frame since everythings the same.
but you do have to change out the wiring, fuel lines, and trans and trans x-member to make it run.

i also changed replaced the 4cyl springs with cut eibach springs and will be changing the rear end from a 7.5 to a 8.8 with 3.73 gears and adding a bigger radiator.

but other that its a pretty simple thing to do. but this isnt my first swap.

i put my MSD pro-billet dist in today with the ford racing black wires for a factory look and a dist. boot to add to the factory apperance.
