How's Your Dog Ride?

I was just wondering how people let their dogs ride in their trucks?

I put the back seat up and they get the back floor in mine. Sucks cause this means I have to keep everything cleaned out of the seat and that just ain't me. They used to ride the passenger seat but I got tired of somebody complainin about the seat bein dirty. It's a truck dammit, it's supposed to be dirty:madd:.

with the wife working at the vets, i get to hear all the horror stories about dogs jumping out of trucks or being dragged from being tied in the back.
My dogs when riding in the truck are in a crate in the back of the truck which is tied down always
I hope none of our members here are dumb enough to let thier dogs ride in the back of the truck while not secured in a dog box or crate

Yep, I hear you... I see way too many dogs jumping back and forth in the back or even sleeping on the tool box going down the hiway at 75 mph.

I'm looking to make a dog box; but I don't have anything to go on. I see the aluminum ones for sale for $500 but surely I could figure out how to make one out of stock panels or something cheaper.

Mine just sleeps in the front seat 10 years old puppy days are over just don't try to get in the truck with him in it.it's his truck

i use fiberglass crates in the back and rachet tie them down :U:
the ones letting them run loose in the back are looking at a big vet bill when they jump out while at 75 mph or worse the ones that tie their leash to something and when they notice the dog has jumped out and has been dragging for a few miles as was the case at her job recently :argh:

That sounds cruel... How do you do that? Hold his head in place and swing the arm wrest up in place to hold him still???? :humm:

lol... My dog rides loose in the front seat, unless I have people with me, then she occasionally rides in the back seat if its warm enough to open the slider. If not she rides in the bed, untied. She won't jump out, even if she see's another dog, or a squirrel, or whatever... Unless I let her out she won't go anywhere, she's been disciplined well. I used to have an aluminum crate, but with a husky in a crate for more than an hour they get cramped up and irritated. On my trip to Florida about a year after I got her I left her in the crate for about 2 hours between stops, and she ripped out the hair on her hind end, and took half the hair out of her tail. She had water, and a few toys in there, so boredom shouldn't have been the problem, but since then she rides loose, usually on her dog bed in the back of the truck, or occasionally she'll crawl under the toolbox and sleep there.
