Intereasting ways to get parts off.

What was your most redneck rigged way to pull a part off your truck? Mine is from today changing the water pump on my moms 03' Durango R/T and I had rented the fan clutch wrench from napa which had turned out not to have the parts I needed, so I proecceded to pull the water pump off, I get it off and decided I was screwed! But me and my brother proceeded to try using crow bars, screwdrivers, and finally we ended up with a bayonet of a 1941 Mosin Nagant, which we wedged in to the pulley and yanked the livin hell outta of the nut using a 10 inch extension on the heater hose output. and since my garage does not have drywall I put the waterpump up against the 2x4 and fought the SOB till it came out. took a whole lot longer than it would with the proper tool but you gotta do what you gotta do.:c:
Lets hear your stories. |
water pump on my 99. didn't have the fan clutch tool so i pulled it as one unit then put a oil filter wrench on the impeller and a big pipe wrench on the clutch nut. it worked.

Set the outrigger of a backhoe on the car top and pulled a 302 ford motor and trans out. Kind of broke the trans thou.Didn't take anything loose either. Does this count?

not really how I removed it but we broke the gear shift on a Kenworth, instead of calling a wrecker I used two 1/2in extensions jammed them down in the shifter plates and had some one ride with me to run the splitter while I used the extensions to shift. Drove it 62 miles back to the shop and saved us a tow bill.

I thought I've done some creative stuff but that video is a WINNER. I know some of you farmers have flipped a 500ld tire and rim by seating the bead with starting fluid and a match, it's scarry as hell the first time you do it:w2:

Might not be proper but it works, as long as the guy with the airhose valve is quick enough
|
well I guess I can add that Ive used exploding targets to bring down an rotten willow exactly 3 of those things. I was a couple hundred yards away lol I ve also have sat on the hood of a 74 land cruiser runnin the throtle because the cable broke had someone else steer.
|
HAHA, been there done that except I used shoestrings and just held my hand out the window and pulled when needed to get down the highway

---AutoMerged DoublePost--- My neighbor gets a kick out of it when I throw a chain over the roof of a junker and hook it around the door pillar and pull it up on it's side. Easiest way I've found to remove the cat and gas tank, After all I don't wanna lay under it and get rust in my eyes. He really crapped when I flipped my beater car up last winter to weld in a new flex pipe and then shoved it back on it's wheels and drove it away. :c: |

If the air hose guy has to rush you're not using enough ether :w2:

Y'all ever use ether to make a tire fit?
We did that at the FD all the time on our brush truck. The rims are 2" too wide for our 34" Mickey T mud grips so we've gotta "stretch" them to fit. So since we are all pyros anyways we made a trip to ACE! Let's just say the chief didn't like explosions in the engine bay at 5am. Ahh the good old days! Also just for reference this is what happens when you have no clue what you are doing. It only takes a second or two of spray not the whole frigging can. Also since this is how you remove parts heres how you remove the tire the redneck way! It even has a rim return almost right next to the shooter! |
Ive knocked down a spitiing willow tree with three jars of tannerite from 400 yards away with my 22-250. ive done the ether and tire trick many many times, I also know what to much ether does, and dont ever throw a can in the fire and stand within 10 feet lol.. But cool videos.
