She likes the Fat boy but i like the dyna's. What do you harley guys think. In the long run what will be the better bike? I wont be buying a brand new one my cieling for price is way too low:( but I wanted to try and get some input. I'll probly start lookin around in mid April when I get back to NC.

here is mine it is a 99 night train.. from what i have learned the dynas are nice for a taller rider there is more leg room plus they ride a bit nicer as well and they have rubber mounted engines. which reduce viberation. i would like to buy a full dresser soon yes it is a big bike but on long rides you cant go wrong. if you are leaning toward a fatboy i would ride one first floorboard pegs are hard to get use to and some do not like em.. is your wife going to be riding with you?

I may be sticking my neck out farther than I should, being that this is a harley thread...but have you ridden any of the new Victories? friend of mine is a manager at one of our local dealerships so I get to ride pretty much all of their take home bikes. I really could not believe how nicely the Vics rode first time I took one out...way more comfortable, responsive and fast than a cruiser should be!
and pete, regardless of what you get, congrats on permission to get a bike and keep the rubber down! |
I'm riding an 883 Sporster L - depending on how leggy you are and where you put the pegs I could see how it might be short. But I've got the low the other's were a couple inches taller.
http://lh6.ggpht.com/lilfroger/R_7JN...0/DSCN2746.JPG Since no one else has said it yet --- if you haven't done so already go take the MSF riding class. Even for someone who has ridden for a while it is a great class and everyone walks away learning something. For me it was invaluable since this is my first season riding :choochoo: Happy hunting - have fun picking your bike!! |
i'm not much of a harley guy, but i like the looks of a fat boy
|
Just found an 07 Softail Custom with 2400 miles I might be snagging this week. Can't wait!!

Well guys I thought I would update. After a few trips to the harley dealership and not at all pleased with their service I went down the street and bought a brand new yamaha raider s. I know some of you are harley guys but I love this bike. 0 miles when I pulled out. Plus the 1900cc/113ci motor will definetly pound any harley I've ran into yet. So far I have pipes and a power commonder and I think that will do for now. The first 1k miles have flew by I love this bike!

:choochoo:

Real Harley guys know that real Harley's haven't been made since 1986.
Anything since is just a poor quality ricer that vibrates. :poak: |
nice looking bike. i would of went with the fat boy though oh well. is it this

My son had his car on the rack in a friends garage. Stopped in to see how things were going. They had a nice 99 Triumph for sale. Told the wife about it and her comment was she thought I would buy another bike one day. :U: Now if I just had the money.....

Man I'll tell you what 2141 Pete.. I live in Oklahoma, and bought my first Harley in texas.. it was an 05 FXDI, Dyna Superglide.. 88cu in, 5 spd.. it was an awesome bike.. but I PROMISE YOU.. COX HD in Rock Hill, SC, is where i traded it in and bought my current bike.. an 08 FLHT Electraglide.. and they were THE LOWEST PRICE i could find in the East part of the US..
As far as how they fit.. there aint a HD on the road that can out corner my FLHT.. that wide front tire handles SO WELL.. I rode the Dragons tail in Deals Gap, TN on my FXDI, and my dad was on his 05 FLTH, and I couldnt keep up.. he was draggin floorboards, but was still leaning over so much farther than I could with my forward controls.. Im 5'10 or 5'11" and both of the bikes fit me well.. After having this FLHT, i will never go back to a smaller bike and i regret not getting it in the first place.. the wife and I love it, its comfy for long rides, and its alot more fun to ride than u might think.. The FXDI weighed in at just over 650lbs, stock.. and my FLHT weighs around 860 stock.. You just cant go wrong with any HD really in my opinion.. but sit on every bike u can.. find the fit u like best.. and think about this.. If you like curvy roads.. less rake is the best.. wide front tires handle better.. if you ever wanna go over 100 miles or so.. saddle bags are priceless.. i promise.. lol if you have a passenger.. get that nice big back seat.. but if you just wanna run around town, and go on short cruises.. the longer raked out bikes just look cooler.. but they dont handle as well as a wide front tired low rake bike.. I cant wait to see pics of your bike bud! and I go out to NC/SC/Tn area at least once a year, and when I do, I'll give u a holler and we can go ride the blue ridge parkway..! its AWESOME! :U: edit.. well i guess i shoulda read the entire thread.. i see u already got the bike.. it sure is a sharp bike bud.. Congrats on that! You wont be dissapointed with it im sure! First chance u get though.. Take u a trip to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, TN Area, and go ride Deals Gap.. 318 curves in 11 miles.. ITS A WILD RIDE! curve after CURVE! |

Seeing your son on the gas tank brings back memories. Except my dads bike was a Kawasaki H2 750.
|
Everyday when I come home for lunch they ride 15 feet up the driveway with me, then when I get home for the day they make the 4 extra feet into the garage too :pals:lol.
