Hey man, thats awesome. I can give you a few pointers, and pull out my taxes from last your to help you out with the truckin thing for sure! First off, knowin the area and the box thats on the truck.... I know your planning on asphalt..... dont figure anything over 5 MPG. The "business plan" or "pro-forma" your refering too, honestly, it needs to look good on paper. Im not going to tell you to cheat, but dont give the WHOLE truth about trucking. Yeah it costs ALOT in monthly expences, even if u do it yourself, your time is worth something. Being a daycab class B dumptruck, you dont need to be apportioned, unless u plan on hauling gravel into another state. So you dont need an IFTA sticker for 48 states, JUST NY (if at all), that helps.

Get ahold of OOIDA. ( http://ooida.com/ )Owner/Operator/Indepentant Drivers Association They can hook you up with your permits.
Your best bet is to figure out how much its going to cost you per mile to run your truck.
An OTR O/O can figure 12000 miles per month if he drives a minimum 3K per week. Thats OTR, local, u might log....... i'll say 6K.

at 5MPG thats 1200 Gals of fuel, at 3.25 thats a 3900 monthly bill
a half service with oil analysis at a T/A truck stop every 6K is....... 80 bucks IIRC. A full PM is 200 bucks from what I remember. For me that was a gal. of lucas in the oil, Rotella oil, fuel filter, oil filters and full chassis grease. I did a full PM on my Shaker every 20K.
So for you, every 3 months plan on a full PM.

Now I understand you will prolly do your own PM and maint, but its just a good basis for numbers to use in your stuff for the bank.

I will tell you, last time I crunched numbers, I planned on 20K in my business account for expences on top of the price of the truck. They like to see that you plan on having money for those unexpected expences. Tires, engine...... I could go on.

They also want to see, that you have a good solid plan for decent income with in a matter of a few months. They want u too wein yourself off of the loan and operate under your own income from the trucking.

Its alot to take in, but it isnt as complicated as ya think. And get an accountant thats familliar with trucking. Just trust me. I dont know what I would have done without mine last year.

Sweet another fellow dump trucker! Its an awsome business to be in if u wanna ask me. I love every minute of it. How old are you? I'm 23 so insurance on my rig is kinda high right now. I've had my own truck for 4 years now, 0 tickets, and have my truck covered for 20k with million dollar coverage and pay $4800 a year. You can probably expect 4-5 miles a gallon out of that rig. 5 is pushing it though. I see you have an 8 speed tranny what rear gears are you running? The ol truck prolly sucks the fuel on the interstate. I have 3.90 gears with a 13 speed and it stills sucks the fuel on the highway. You going to lease on with a company or get your own authority? Whats the hourly wages up there in NY? We are up to $65 an hr here in Southwest MO. Hope everything goes smoothly for ya.

im 18, insurence on the truck is about $1500 a year and the million dollar coverage is about $5000, i dont even know what its got for rears but it will cruise at 70mph no problem, im looking to get in with a local quarry and they start at $70 per hour

The million dollar coverage is worth every penny if u wanna ask me. But I started out the same way you are. I just had liability with like 100,000 dollar coverage.
