Stereo in a Peterbilt
So I wired up my old Alpine tape deck and got it working in my Peterbilt. Didn't want to spend money; at least this way, I can listen to radio and tapes.
I do want to upgrade eventually. Really like Alpine's stuff, but some of the capabilities I want they are way out of their mind on ($185 extra for bluetooth ON TOP of the cost of the head unit?) What I'm looking for is basically:
Pioneer makes a unit that does all of the above for under $200. Unfortunately, it has an awful joystick-based interface that I just can't deal with. So are there other good options out there, or do I need to bite the bullet and pay Alpine's ransom to get Bluetooth? Also -- think I could use the storage box on the passenger side (under the bunk) for a subwoofer? :rocking: Oh, and if anyone from Peterbilt happens to read this: If two harnesses are wired differently, use different connectors! I almost fried my stereo by accidentally plugging into a harness that had +12V and ground swapped! |
Tough call here. Someone ought to know a little more on the subject.

I'd get the Alpine. So is the bluetooth for the cell? Why not get a $99 tooth that connects externally?

i got a good used but cheap alpine like what you are talking about but with L.C.D screen for 200 from carpart.com you just gotta look hard and you will find one.

ive got the pioneer unit in question. And i use the remote 90% of the time. I really like it. If your wanting bt for cell it works good but sq sucks using bt for music. my.02
