Default new truck question

I been given an offer of a lifetime, a 1991 ford f450 superduty, 7/3 idi 5 speed, the truck is a service truck for dads construction company, they dont need it anymore and its what i need, 1 ton truck heavy duty but one problem, regular fuel air and aoil filter changes thats all, + battery cable is shot. but i dont know the health of the engine, the truck has a 20,000 pound compressor on it all its life since new, i suspect high EGT's, because slow truck steep hills, high rpm to pull the hills, what do you guys think? Should I but it and install a rebuilt engine, or do you think i'll do just fine as the truck is, just put a flatbed on it?

As long as the truck has been given regular filter and oil changes, there should be no reason to doubt the integrity of the motor. I sometimes let my 91 f250 7.3IDI go 10000 miles without oil change and it runs perfect every day. I took the head off the motor at about 200000 miles and it was spotless. The truck currently has 210000 miles on it and still running strong. As far as pulling hills, most 7.3 IDI's arent particularly fast at climbing them, you just gotta let the truck power through it. You should be perfectly fine.
