I have a 96 powerstroke with a 7.3 turbo. The other night i was driving home and i looked down to check my speed and i had no dash lights but my radio still worked. I checked the fuse and it was blown so i put a new one in it yesterday. Last night i was at a town party and once again driving home and dash lights went out again but this time my buddy behind me said i had no tail lights. Steped on the brakes had brake lights. If anyone knows what it could be i could really use the help i've been messing with it since 5 this morning.

new light switch! mine went out a month ago. confusing!

 

mine shorted the switch and the plug. new pig tail and switch but still no dash lights. on the plug all the wires except one were the same. but if you turn on the dome light, the dash lights come on.

 

That sounds more like a grounding issue to me if its shorted both the switch and the plug. What color was the wire that wasn't the same?
