Can't get the starter to engage!
Workin on a guy down the street's smaller john deere tractor. I need to get it too my place. I take the leads, and can make the starter spin. But I cant get it to kick out and go in gear. Please help!!! thanks!

By in gear, I mean grab the flywheel. It has a safety switch keepin it from starting, but I really just need to spin it over once and get it to my shop to further diagnose
