hey guys
long story short i sold the 12 valve and bought a 99 24 valve with 175,000 miles on it. is bone stock except for a bully dog eco chip. never towed anything. it doesnt even have a fifth wheel. so my question is why is it that sometimes the gas pedal wont work? it will idle at 25mph but when i press the pedal nothing happens. it only lasts for bout 10 seconds tops then it ill press the pedal and it will work again. and when i start it up it puffs a little smoke. why is that? im not too familar with the 24s.

your APPS is going out (accelerator pedel position sensor)

you can re-cal this one but its only a temp fix

turn key on (dont start)
slowly push throttle to the floor
slowly let pedel back up
turn key off
start truck and try it.............its calibrated now

vp44? did truck get new lift pump recentley?

 

yea it has a vp44. it has not gotten a new lift pump recently. so on my way to school today goin down the highway ay 60mph the truck just completley shut off so i coasted to the side of the road and tried restarting it..i wouldnt start. so now in the shop. could it be lift pump? injection pump?
