Default Fuel additive

Hey,

Just wondering what type of fuel additive I can add when I fuel up. Help keep the pump lubricated. Maybe help clean the injectors a bit.

My uncle told me last night that my grandfather used to add half a quart of ATF oil each fill up, and it always ran perfectly and kept everything clean. Not really sure if that's a good idea.

Let me know what you guys use, or what is recommended.

Thanks

Corbin

Personally I am not a fan of burning ATF...it was never designed to burn.

Here is a good link...

Stanadyne makes good stuff, I hear good things about Rev-x, I'd avoid atf just because it tints your fuel red and the DOT might think you've been running off road fuel.

I use DIESEL KLEEN and also have used 2stroke oil. the Kleen iv only heard good things about it and you can get it at walmart its priced good. but you can get it els where as well. I use it all the time on my 96. My buddy uses Stanadyne on his duramax but thats what hes hurd to be the best for his truck. But for Dodge all I hear is use Kleen

I run home made biodiesel most of the time and don't add anything to it. BUT, when I'm on a trip and have to buy pump diesel I always use DK at the recommended 1:400 ratio (1 ounce per every 3 gallons fuel). May not make much difference, but I figure its cheap lube "insurance" for my IP...

A friend at a shop told me to use Rislone 2 step fuel system treatment to clean out the fuel system and injectors. Was told to only use on bottle, as it's only once every 5000 miles because of the cleaning agent. I'll run a few tanks to let this additive completely gone, then I will run Diesel Kleen. From what I hear from the forum, and recommendations I will be running that additive. My truck's got 560 000 kms and want to keep it for a long time.

From what I can find on the forum, and reading your posts and previous post, it's worth the couple of dollars to put the additive to keep the pump lubricated, and injectors will stay cleaner as well.

Thanks for your recommendations.

Greatly appreciated.
