Default Best First Mods for 6.7L

Hi, I'm new to the forum and this is my first Diesel as well. I have a 2009 Dodge Ram Quad Cab Short Bed 4x4 6.7L Cummins 6 spd manual and have put about 25k miles on it. I've had it for the last two and a half years but have only added some trailer wiring and a trailer brake. I'm hoping to gradually upgrade my truck to improve it's reliability, longevity, and MPGs wouldn't hurt either.

I already ordered a Carli Backcountry 2.0 suspension with sway bar and full progressive leaf springs.

My next step is to buy some items to help out my engine. From all I've read I'm leaning towards getting a H&S Minimaxx, FASS or AirDog II and some new exhaust that delete my DPF.

I was hoping I could get some input into whether this seems to be a good starting point, what exhaust I should get, and what should my next steps me.

Thank you

A fuel system like FASS or airdog is always good insurance against crappy fuel, I love my minimaxx, if you choose that route though get the trans tune with it, it really helped the feel of my trans and got rid of all the chatter, plus it shifts firmer, pretty much all exhausts are good, make sure to get turbo back, and to really increase reliabilty consider a full delete, the kits cost about $100 bucks and gets rid of all the emission crap that backs up your engine, some of the sponsors here are really reasonable and can probably put a nice little package together for you, good luck.

Nevermind the trans tune, you run manual,

If going with a 4" exhaust, there is no reason to spend the extra on a turbo back system. Just get the downpipe and the DPF delete pipe. Saves a little $ for other mods...

DPF delete is a must. Dont forget the factory downpipe has a catalytic converter built into it so if your not going to do a full exhaust system then you need to be sure to get a downpipe also. MBRP makes some nice pieces that are easy to install. H&S and Smarty both make great products for what you are wanting to do. Dont forget about the EGR and cooler system, its relatively cheap to delete and is a major benefit to keeping your engine clean PLUS both tuners mentioned above already run software to accomodate the EGR/cooler delete. You might would want to bolt on a cold air intake also.

The first things I do are, In the order I do the mods,
- Cold air intake
- 4" Stainless Exhaust (Turbo back)
- 2" leveling kit (front), Air Bags (Rear)
- 35" Tires
- Programmer, egr & dpf delete, Transmission vave tune, etc.
