I know I haven't been on much lately but I could really use some help. Has anyone else here done the 3G alternator swap on their truck? Last month I bought an 86 F-250 6.9 that has become more of a project than the DD I wanted it to be. Anyway, the alternator turned out to be shot and while looking for a replacement, I found some info about swapping a 3G 130 amp unit out of a 90s Taurus with a 3.8L.

I went and got the alternator but wasn't able to get the harness so I've had to kinda make my own. I got it installed and wired up but I now have nothing. No power to lights, no start, nothing. The batteries are brand new. What did I miss?

 

ummm... I would start by unplugging everything... then starting the truck and figure out if you have the polarity correct... sounds like you got a few wires backwards.... check your fuseable links near the reomte starter silinoid also
