Rumor Mill: The Diesels Are Coming

New Diesel VehiclesIt seems there is a considerable amount of disappointment in the lack of diesel options offered in North America. What seems to work so well (and be the norm) in Europe has somehow been neglected or left off the drawing board in the States. Well, the coming months (and year) could help alleviate some of this frustration.

i read that nissan or toyota cant remember is looking at putting a cummins 4 banger in there 1/2 ton. but only if they can get good mileage from it. i say do it. i will rip off the DPF and EGR systems and what ever else is on there and get the mileage i seek.

Don't kid yourself and think that Ford, GM, and Dodge don't already have diesel engines made for their 1/2 ton trucks and SUV's. They're not oblivious to the idea, nobody wants to pull the trigger and drop one in. Heck, the 4.5L Powerstroke was designed and produced by Navistar years ago, it just never made it into Ford trucks or SUV's only the International cabover trucks.

The problem with this nowadays is they would have so much on them as far as emissions goes that they wouldn't get any better mileage than a gasser.

Its also a big cost option, i hear that dodge wanted to do a half ton but the cost was the equalivant of 2 hemi engines. as much as i say i'm interested i would never buy that option.
