Default stock in tank gasser pump for lift pump?

has anyone tried using an in tank pump that was for a gas engine as a lift pump for more fuel to there cummins? maybe by putting a regulator in front of the pump to bring the pressure down to 20psi at the injection pump and alter it to only turn on after the truck is running or just on a switch? not sure if the pump would last with diesel running through it but i am curious to know. would make for a cheap lift pump when you already have one. also not sure how many gpm my stock gasser pump flows though so would have to look in to it.

never mind i found the specs they flow about 60 gph where even a small lift pump flows 95 gph.

I think you are going to have 2 problems the first is on the gassers the have a sock to keep contaminates out of the fuel a diesel uses a screen the second the stock lift pump is 90 gal hr at 2k rpm and 15psi I don't think the pump would have that much flow this is what I use

in your swap how fine of a screen are you using to filter the fuel in the tank and did you add another filter before that pump or are you just using the stock filter housing only

I put in a new draw straw with a fuel screen and a plain inline filter just to keep crap from the pump they have a real tight tolerance I have the stock filter before the inj pump

If you are using a 96 Cummins, you should have a mechanical lift pump on the side of the engine behind the injection pump, it will supply the IP with all the fuel it need. I just made a new fuel pickup in my tank.

i plan on turning the pump up though and eventually trying to hit maybe 5-600 hp with a twin set up to keep egts down while towing anything. probably have my buddy that owns Wehrli Custom Fabrication build me a set. (really knows his sh$t) hes got a Dmax making over a 1000hp to the wheels with a triple turbo set up so much fun stuff under the hood you dont know where to look!

Sweet

If the HX35 is still in good shape, you could use it in a compound setup with an S475 or S472 and it should support you to 5-600.

well im actually im still waiting on the right turbo and manifold from where i purchased the motor.... guy sent me a manifold that looks similar but was wider and the bolt patter was different and the turbo had a tag on it off of a mack truck. either way the inducer wheel was chipped and bent let alone it didnt turn very freely.
