turbo swap !
is there anyway possible a lly or lbz stock vvt turbo will fit on an lb7 o3 dmax if so what all is needed for the swap? is there any gains with just going with a newer stock turbo
???
???
I'm by far no expert but I asked this question a few years back just for the hell of it. From what I have been told, the VVT is computer controlled and does not use a wastegate. When commanded by the computer the vanes turn inside the turbo to build or release pressure. The LB7 computer is not programmed to control a VVT. So unless you are going to reconfigure the computer to go with the turbo I'm told it will cost way more than it's worth to convert compared to the gain (there isn't much, especially with a stock VVT turbo). Personally I am looking at different turbos (wastegated of course) for mine down the road.
It would be nice if it was that easy but it would take alot of changing. It wpuld just be easier to put the different motoe in it. Or just buy a newer truck. Aftermarket turbos are pretty awesome but expencive.
