Have a 1995 F-250 7.3 L , owned it since new last wk od light was flashing, took it to a shop to have code read and there telling me my trannys shot? I have never had any problems with my tranny ever so how can this be?

 

how does the tranny shift?

 

It could be something simple like a sensor... I would take it to Ford and have somebody who knows these vehicles look at it...

 

When the light was flashing she shifted alittle hard, since light went out its been fine, going to put on a new od switch tomorrow cuz mines been broke for awhile, checked tranny fluid it looked great and it wasn`t burnt, also dropped pan and everything looked fine there, so I`m hoping the switch will do the trick?

 

When that OD light blinks i think it means the tranny is in limp mode? I may be wrong

 

I`ve also heard that is limp mode, I just don`t understand why out of no where it came on, thats why I`m changing od switch, can anyone tell me how easy this will be?

 

What are the codes?

 

just pop off the small ring on the end of the shifter, then slide the cover plate off that says OFF and the switch will come with it.

 

The code that was givin was P1728, Again this is very hard for me to believe because except for last wens I have never had a problem with it.
