Default Fuel Regulator

i was wondering how the fuel pressure regulator builds up the 30-80psi for the fuel lines going into the heads

well if you didn't have a return line it would create very high fuel pressure. the unused fuel goes back into the bowl and passes thru the regulator. there is a spring that holds a valve closed until the pressure is met and then opens.

alrite so with that im putting an air dog on and i would b able to put the fuel lines up to my stock filter housing and the regulator would still be able to build that fuel pressure i need in my lines thatll go to the head

i think with the air dogs you actually splice into the stock fuel lines. but those kits are not designed to replace the stock fuel pump.

yes i would splice into the stock line but the reason im gonna try to put an air dog on it is i have a fuel leak up top and can't tell if its the lift pump or the filter housing

No... You can't run high pressure from the pump through the stock filter housing. It will tear it apart.

ok ya i think wht im gonna do is bypass the filter housing and either try to use the factory regulator or get a new one and regulate my pressure that way cuz i dont want to run 3 filters just the 2 off the air dog

Fuel Regulator-0228122234.jpg well what i'm thinking about doing is splicing into my fuel inlet line then running that up to my lift pump with the air dog, from there take the 4-6psi line from the lift pump and jus put it back to the inlet side of the lift pump from where it would be with the filter housing but id either see if i can keep my regulator or get a new one to build the pressure i need for the heads and the return line thatd go bak into the filter housing im gonna run that into the lift pump
