My buddy gave me a turbo off a cat generator. The part number is 6N7968. Does anybody know if this turbo is worth using on a 2007 5.9 cummins. I would like to compound it if it was possible or even worth it.

 

I think that goes on a 3400 series engine and the model for the turbo should be TV8107

 

Came off of a 3412 DI CAT. Im just not sure if it would be worth using on my truck.

 

Break it down and take some measurements of the compressor and turbine wheel. Once you know the specs you may be able find a map for the turbo or get a pretty good inclination if it'll be laggy or not.

Did it come off of a diesel 3412 or a Gas 3412?

 

it came off a V12 cat motor diesel

 

Just a hunch but that's entirely too big...

The Cat Gen set motors are in a low rpm, low hp application, cant remember the specs, its been a while since I worked on them. My guess is could it work, maybe but probably not very efficient turbo for that application.
