Hello,
The Fire Dept I work for was awarded a grant for Idle emissions technology. A 5000kw gen was installed that uses .6 of a gallon per hour. The idea being to shut down the main engine and still be able to power all the appliances. It is my understanding(having heard this on Modern Marvels) that a large diesel engine uses approx a gallon of fuel per hour at idle.
Is that about right? A gallon per hour at idle? Thanks for your input.
