Default New owner of a 2006 6.0L

I have aquired a 2006 f-250 lariat, crew cab, 8ft bed, with 113,000 miles. My uncle has owned the truck since new. He drives very conservatively, mostly highway miles. Never used for towing, plowing, etc. It is currently bone stock. It does have an intermittent check engine light. I scanned it and came up with all 8 injector codes as well as a FICM code. I am going to check the voltage on the FICM, and get that issue resolved first. I will be towing a bass boat ( approx. 4-5 k pounds) , as well as very minimal plowing( personal use only). I would really like to use a chip/programmer. I am not looking for anything extreme. More of an all around performance that is not too hard on the truck. I do know that it all depends on how you drive it, but I would like the extreme tune/setting available to roll a bit of smoke on the scarce occasion. I know the way to go would be studs, egr delete, coolant filter, etc..... I am wondering what i can get away without for now and what tuner/chip would be best as long as i drive it easy? Lastly, I know this is an age old set of questions but i have never used a tuner/chip in any vehicle. Thanks in advance. Sorry to beat a dead horse.

Is it possible for a little more elaboration? For example, which preventitive mods are most important....for example, EGR delete, coolant filter, oil cooler, etc. I dont plan on doing studs till the heads gaskets need to be done. Also, any preference on custom tunes or is that something I would discuss with the tuner of my choice? One other thing is the advantages/disadvantages between all in one gauge display vs. multiple analog gauges. Maybe recomendations for both?

I really appreciate the feed back, as this is all new to me.
