Default 1994 IDI Turbo

Currently im running the stock turbo on my truck and would like to get a high performance aftermarket one. i do not want to spend the money on a banks or ATS so does anyone know of where i can get a cheaper but still reliable high performance turbo?

Yours is perfectly fine, open up the intake get a 60 wheel and fab up a 3" exhaust elbow. Doesnt matter what turbo you run 15psi is the general consensus on what these head gaskets will tolerate without head studs

its a guy that does it, it would be helluva lot cheaper then trying to get a new turbo set up...his name is typ4 (typefour) he is on several forums...FTE, OBN, PSN, TDS and im sure the list goes on but get ahold of him...he can also rebuild it you you at the same time!

no i dont have it... you can see my dyno numbers in my sig....those are pretty high up in the idi world (not the best tho)

here is typ4's numbers and his mods:

1991 F350 5-spd/(218hp/461tq@14psi) ATS turbo 3" downpipe 60-1 wheel, cold air intake, typ4 "torque" cam, and intercooler

your turbo is a garrett so parts arnt to hard to find...just getting the quality parts...id try to locate him if i was you..... or i can ask him next time i talk to him

a standard rebuild from russ runs around 400-500 on average.

does the 60-1 wheel make a diference ? I havent seen another extra cab 7.3 factory turbo IDI 4x4 since I got mine almost a year ago so I want to keep it mostly stock in case it may be worth something some day. I know my truck was the stop gap from the last 7.3 IDI with a turbo built in 93 K vin and ended in mid 94 when the first power stroke came out. all ive done is turned up the IP and I want to put a 3 or 4 inch exhaust, not sure how big to go, and a good muffler and a minor lift to keep my tires from rubbing when I turn sharp.
