4r100 wont engage unless overdrive is off

4r100 wont engage unless overdrive is off
Hi I got a 2001 ford powerstroke and I've had some trans problems and don't know what to do. Its a 4r100 and it will only engage if overdrive is off. Once I turn the overdrive on it has nothing. Please help me
